i shld have blogged this long long ago but been too busy. now's the time! if still don blog, then really don know when liao. hehe.. my grad trip with miss ng enghan. lemme say some tots on taipei 1st. it's v different frm my initial impression. u know, it's always on the tv how their political figures quarrel/fight during meetings. even women fight like nobody's business. and so, i tot taiwanese r rude and 粗鲁 and they speak only hokkien. but im wrong. they speak mostly chinese and r nice n friendly pple. one thing shocked me in fact. when using the escalators in mrts, they really strictly stand on the right (for them is on the right, not left). so u can clearly see the demarcation. on one side of the escalator is the pple standing and on the other side, pple r moving. it's v organised lor and the pple strictly follow it unlike in sing when pple stand on both sides! so irritating! and on the platforms, lines are drawn for pple to queue. u don queue any-o-how. u have to queue within the lines so tt u don block the pple alighting the train and pple can enter n exit more efficiently. this is really impressive and i think they far exceed us in this sense. o, and they have these priority seats for the elderlys, pregnants, handicapped... we saw students looking for seats but dare not sit on the priority seats even when they were empty. then we tot we were not supposed to sit on them. then we went to chk with the hotel pple.. and they told us tt we can sit but try to give up the seats to pple who needs it more than us. but then, students in uniforms are not allowed to sit on these priority seats. hahah.. tt explains y the 2 kids kept walking and searching but jus don wanna sit on the priority seats. ok.. now the pics..
tt's ah zhong mian xian. v famous. but actually nothing v impressive la. and gotta stand n eat. no place to sit de. in the middle is ximending. near our hotel. think ximending is equivalent to our orchard rd?
2nd day. went to long-shan temple and all the posh shopping malls like taipei 101. top left corner: us with 2 friendly jap tourists. we helped each other took pic and then they suggested the 4 of us take pic tog. haa..
ate bento set frm 7-11. their bentos of a much larger variety than ours. cheap n nice! green structure is the ferris-wheel @ miramar shopping mall. cool rite.. ferris wheel at the top of the shopping mall. and it's tall lorrr.. can see the v nice scenary of taipei..
day 4 went 九分. the day din start off well cuz i had this ache in my jaw. it was dead painful whenever i tried to open my mouth. even talking n eating also painful. hence was in a rather sucky mood. hope did not scare han.. haha.. but in the afternn it got better.. heng ar! bumped into some ntu frens there too..
九分's a very nice place. one of the best place in taipei. but it's v far frm the central. gotta take mrt, then change train, then change bus. v mafan de. many many things r sold there. v nice to shop. and cux it's high up on some highland, it's quite cool and breezy. the vendors there v warm n friendly. they let u test their food and @ the end of it, if u decide not to buy, they'll still be all smiley. v nice pple. and.. the fishballs/meatballs there r fantastic!!!! really really nice..
c.k.s memorial hall. tt day was a super sunny and hot day. quite terrible cux on the way to the main hall got no shelter de. hot like hell..
went yangmingshan on this day. yangmingshan....the worst place for the whole trip. i think me and han did not know the way ard la. cux apparently jas n ah yan said it's fun and got many things to see. for the 2 of us, we took the bus n alighted at a stranded place. we alighted for the sake of alighting lor! mian qiang took some pics and then waited hell long for another bus to take us back. and on the bus, we both fell asleep! diaoo... went to泡温泉 as well. hhehe.. interesting experience! after tt, we got to know the knowlege behind hot spring baths! yes.. there r knowledge invovled.. not any-o-how 泡 de.. ahahaha... bottom left pic: tt's the priority seat i mentioned earlier on.
渔人码头. v v romantic place. esp when the sun's abt to set. it's v v windy. and got songs coming frm the restaurant nearby. really a very nice and 舒服 place.
saw the tall ice-cream on the top left-corner? hahahaha... we were happily taking pics b4 we eat. han ate one bite, and i ate one bite. and then it started melting at a super fast speed and the next thing... it dropped on the floor! the top rite pic shows the 残骸 of the poor ice-cream. after the ice-cream dropped, han was still holding onto the cone.. but don know y, she dropped the cone as well.. diao.. we were juz not fated to eat the ice-cream... lucky we took a bite each and lucky, it wasn't a very delicious ice-cream! lol!*
now the nite markets..
饶河夜市 .. the 1st 夜市 we went to.. it was drizzling tt nite. boo.. ate quite a bit. the sweet corn.. but not v nice. not like wad i tot.. then ate the smelly tofu too. but it's really smelly and han and me cannot tahan. in the end we only ate abit. hahaa.. and saw this v cute dog. it's a real dog lorr.. many others were taking pics of it too.
士林夜市. i think it's the most popular 夜市. but then i dont really like it lei. cuz it's an enclosed area. something like our hawker centre. then it's v smoky and smelly inside. u know... all the smell of the food comes together with the smoke and oil smell.. it's really bad. and besides food, like not much shopping areas unlike other nite markets. and their oyster egg... v different frm us de. not nice.. hahha.. disappontment. ate the big chicken cutlet also. really super big. me n han cannot finish one. the best is 棺材板. it's a deep-fried thick toast with filings of ur choice. v nice. yummy!

华西 nite market. the last nite market we went too. there's a st where they sell all the exotic food like snakes and turtles.. arhh... scary.. and since it was the last nite, we decided to eat something gd. hehe.. ate sashimi! quite cheap actually. nice place also. many things to see and shop.
at a restaurant in ximending. the name's tamago-ya which means egg house. han's fav restuarant i guess. we ate 2 times there. as the name goes, the main thing is eggs. hhaha.. nice food. abit ex if compared to wad we ate at the nite mkts. cute restuarant. we also ate 麻辣火锅 at a restaurant v near to our hotel. yummy!!
some miscellanous. our hotel.. v nice. small and cosy. v cheap too cuz of the promotions. the breakfast.. not as sucky as wad jas said la. plain porridge with those side dishes lor. quite nice, really. after soo much fried food, it's gd to eat something plain every morning to cleanse the stomach, rite?? lucky found this hotel. thanks to all for recommending and helping us find. our main mode of transport was the train. v user friendly and convenient. juz like singapore's. no prob getting ard.
our last day.. boo..... went eat the v famous 鸭肉扁 @ ximending. nothing v impressive again. in fact i find the meat too tough. v difficult to eat. and rite pic.. a nice phenomena i took frm the plane's window. hehe.. artistic?*

yepp.. tt's all the pics. overall, taipei's a v nice place. in fact nicer than hk. the pple there also nicer and warmer. things also cheaper. but the thing is, i tot taipei's a v vibrant place whereby late at nite still alot of pple on the street. but not so leii.. on the way back to hotel at nite, the street already not many pple. yepp.. unexpected. the food there mostly deep-fried de lei.. i ended up with a v bad cough..lucky no serious outbreak!

im glad i went on this trip. v gd experience. 1st time travel with a fren. 2 gals all alone in a foreign land. pretty cool, now tt i think of it. again, i wanna thank han for staying with me and i apologise if there's in any way, i made the trip not so fun for u. hehee.. and thanks to all who made this trip happened! it'll always be memorable. i'll always remember!
