oh, 1st night w raythorous.......

tough night!!!

but waking up to a brunch like this, 也算是补偿了...

this raythorous is one tough boy.. doesnt want to sleep, wants to be carried, makes alot of 'struggling' sound when sleeping.....

i almost did not sleep at all loh. his 'struggling' sound kept waking me up. 3am fed him milk, who knows, he vomitted almost everything out. after that i went to pump milk and went back to sleep at 4am. who knows at 4.30am, mr raythorous chu pattern again, so fed him milk again. after that he kind of refused to sleep liao. lucky hubb woke up and took over so i can get some sleep.

wah lao eh... 1st night already like that... haiii.. same pattern as the brother one.. jialek..

daytime also.. wants to be carried then can sleep. once put him down he will wake up liao...

ok, confinement nanny is gone!

earlier than expected... 

the agreement was to hire her 10 more days post the baby shower. 

subsequently we felt that her service is not as good as previous liao, so wanted to cut short to 5days post baby shower, but did not know how to tell her about it. lucky she herself asked if ok to cut short or not, cuz she wanna go for eye checkup and schedule for some eye surgery. so i happily told her that raythourous has vaccination appointment on 1june morning, and she can leave after going w us to the appointment. 

who knows there was a misunderstanding and she tot the appointment was on monday, instead of 1june. and she said she has already scheduled for eye check-up on monday.... so instead of 1june, she left today le loh. 

well, she came at around 3pm on the 1st day, so rightfully, she should at least cook lunch before leaving la. but she left at around 10am just now liao. haiz. 

anyway, cut short also good la. her service really not as good liao and also dont really need her around le la. 

ok, generally, her cooking is good. she knows what to cook and what to boil for me. and she knows how to handle baby so i can rest. since 2nd time liao, im very much more relaxed than the 1st time. most of the time, i will just leave raythorous w her. this time round, i did not even observe how she bath raythorous lo. keke. 

now the not-so-good things.. 

1) she still will tend to cook ALOT. really ALOT loh! see liao really full half that kind ok! i mean, have to use some common sense right. only 1-2 pple eating, why must cook sooo much??? really waste food and money leh! 

2) she still has the habit of sneezing w/o covering up. but she refrained from doing that after we commented. 

3) she used to help us here and there w the housework. now no more liao. in fact, she left the things for my helper to do when we felt that she should be the one doing eg, washing up the dishes, washing the bottles etc.. ok la, i do see her spending more time w baby eg 'playing' w baby, talking to him, carrying him etc. so maybe she tot since the helper is around, the chores can leave to helper, while she concentrates on baby? 

4) but i also felt that her frequency of making phone calls is higher this time round. and tend to talk for v long also. talk also talk discreetly lah, talk so loud.. there was 1x when i got so pissed, that in the middle of her call, i went to question her if she has already helped me boil the herbal water for bath. only then she chop chop ended the call. see la, so free until can chit-chat on the phone.. 

5) and.. this pisses me off the most.. in the middle of the night, when baby cries for milk, she will carry him over to me. after that, she should come over and check if the feeding is done and carry baby back right? but most of the time, i have to carry baby over to her, cuz.... she fell back to sleep liao! best right. lucky in the later part, got enough milk to pump out for her to feed via bottles in the middle of the night, no need to carry to me liao. haha. 

6) oh oh, and i also hated it when she passed baby to me on the excuse that baby was hungry. i dont think baby was hungry lo. i think she just wanted me to help look after the baby so she can do other stuff like bathing or cooking.

ok, so all in all, her job now is definitely more relaxed than the previous time liao, since she can 'sub-con' some of the scopes to the helper. also, maybe she's older le la, so not as attentive and responsive as the 1st time. in a nutshell, i feel paying her $100 per day is not as worthwhile liao la. so, good that we cut short and save some money. 

so now, it's all back to me liao. i suppose this maternity should be easier than the last maternity ba, since i can also sub-con to helper. hahahahaha. 

but i also want to use this maternity to do more la. like spending more time w rayous.. bring him out.. exercising etc etc... but, 说就 龙飞凤舞... if really want to execute, also 
not as easy.

that probably explained why during the 1st maternity, i was almost totally stuck at home alone w rayous. i think it really was during the weekends when hubb was around, then i 'dare' to go out. during the 1st maternity, i did not dare to go out w rayous alone lo. scare he gives me problem when we r outside and i cannot handle... hahahaha. 

okok, shall see how it goes this time. i definitely want to achieve more this time! LOL

haha, finally can wash my hair tmr liao. 

yeahh.

same as 1st time, i did not wash my hair throughout the confinement period. 

power right?

but unlike the 1st time, i powdered much less this time round. during the 1st time, i powdered my hair alot, like once every day? and each time will put alot of powder. towards the end, can literally scrapped off powder crumbs from my head. 

eiyer. 

so this time round, i powder less liao. dont wanna clog the scalp. and probably becuz of the less powdering, can really feel the oiliness of the hair... and the itchiness too... 

there were a few days when i really wanna give up and just go for a good wash, but ultimately did not lah, cuz i think more troublesome to wash than dont wash. 

so just tahan till now le lohhhh. 

finally tmr can wash liaooo!

想不到身为两个妈的我, 还可以如此悠哉闲哉....

ok, rayous is at MIL's place. raythorous is next door sleeping with confinement nanny. hubb is sleeping beside me.

im lying on the bed, listening to radio, enjoying some me-time, not knowing what to do.

so just tot of jotting this moment down.

becuz i know very soon, it will be no more haven for me liao.

once nanny is gone, all night (and day of cuz) feeding will be done by me liao.

and.. dont know why this time round, the confinement period seemed to pass soooooooo soon!

i remb the 1st time, the confinement period felt like very long.

but now, this sat will be the baby shower, and that will also kind of mark the end of my confinement period liao.

wah. how fast! a month passed just like that ar?

maybe this time round less gunchong, less anxiety, more relax. as the saying goes - 快乐时光总是短暂的... so maybe that's y it appeared to pass faster than the 1st time?

not that the 1st time round was 不快乐, but 1st time round was definitely more gunchong, more hands-on and more hyped-up than the 2nd time la.

ok, better enjoy while i can!!

ok, dont ask me why i took sooo long to blog about rayous's 1st bday. i also dont know why. haha. 

yeah, we held his 1st bday celebration at marina mandarin's peach blossom restaurant.

honestly, we spent much more time looking for his bday celebration venue than for our wedding venue. really!

for wedding, it's quite straighforward - it's either within budget or out of budget. so we straight-away can zoom in to the selected few hotels. but for his bday, the differences in prices b/w the different venues are not that huge, so we really had to recce and compare. 

we really visited many hotels and restaurants loh. in the end finally settled on peach blossoms. and, i never knew that one has to meet a minimum spending if you want to dine in the private rooms. i always thought so long u reserve early enough, u can get the room. 

with yeye and ah ma.

yeah, started on the jamu massage on 8 may. 

used back the same company - babies & bellies - as the previous time.

actually had wanted to try out another company. but didnt manage to fix a time. so use back this same company loh. the therapist is also the same therapist who was assigned to me 2yrs back. haha. apparently she stays opposite my block only. 

so far so good. signed for 7 sessions. thinking if i should go for 10 sessions instead. 

honestly need to do a favour to my poor belly. 

look how much it was expanded.... haiz.

and apparently, my helper said she also knows how to use the wrap. she said she used to use it on herself as well as her brother's wife and it really will help to flatten the tummy. but....... she said had to wrap daily for......... 1 YEAR..... before the tummy can become totally flat. 

gasp. 

ok.. shall see how. 

maybe just ask her to help me wrap every night. 

haha.

tada, family portrait before going to labour. haha

yeah, so contractions felt at around 4am. admitted at around 6am. EDD was supposed to be 2 or 3may. so like rayous, raythorous also arrived earlier than the EDD. 

5cm dilated and epidural administered. 

after the epidural, i could still feel some pain. so the nurse increased the dosage and after that, i was super sleepy. the whole labour waiting process was practically spent sleeping. really really cannot imagine how it will be if there is no epidural. the whole labour process would probably be spent screaming and crying away!! really! 

so i almost slept all the way till the gynae came. checked and 8cm dilated. then he ordered for the epi to be reduced and once i feel the pain sensation, im supposed to call out to the nurses. 

and so, i continued to sleep after the gynae left. and then pain started to creep in again and i called out to the nurses. at this point in time, i was still sleepy and my legs are numb. so numb that they were 'beyond my control' already. i tried to keep my knees bent, but my legs will just 'automatically' fall flat down again. scary... 

anyway, the nurses came and we attempted to push. i was thinking to myself, this time sure big problem. the previous time i already had problem pushing the baby out. this time round, with the numbness, how to push?!

but surprisingly, the nurses all said my pushing was correct! hubb even said he could see the baby's hair already! 

woohoo! 

and then pushed a few more times and the nurses told me to stop pushing. then they gave me oxygen mask to regulate the breathing. i was still thinking y to stop pushing. on hindsight, i think it was because the gynae hadnt arrive yet, so cannot continue to push.

and then the gynae came and everything happened v fast liao. pushed a few times, and baby's out!! believe it or not, i did not even know that baby's out! think really too numb liao, cannot feel anything! 

and really surprise that w just a few pushes, it's done! unlike the 1st time! 

then the usual routine stuff of cleaning, weighing the baby etc, while the gynae waited w me for the placenta to be expelled out. and meantime, i could see myself being sewn by the gynae.. literally. haiz.

tada! arrival of raythorous! 

3.33kg, heavier than rayous then. haha.

thou the labour process was much smoother than the 1st time, the after-effect was wayyyyyy worse off than the 1st time. wayy wayyy worse off! 

still in the delivery ward, while holding the baby, nausea kicked in. luckily i was in time to ask them to carry baby away, else i would have vomitted on him already! 

back in the ward, i continued to vomit for at least another 3-4x loh. and the vomitting was really the 歇斯底里, uncontrollable kind lo. worse than the 1st trimester kind. grrrrrr. 

and i continued to be super drowsy. so bad so that i told hubb to inform families to visit only in the evening. baby arrived around noon and it really was around 5pm then i started to feel better and can eat. 

think this time round, the epidural intake was more than the 1st time, that's why the after-effect was soooo 'powerful'. 

but if ask me again, i will still take the epidural. LOL. 

yeah, family portrait again, post labour. LOL

yeah, so was discharged after 2 days stay. 

in summary, the labour process was shorter, smoother, less painful. but the after-effect was worse off and lasted longer. 

v happy and thankful that raythorous arrived safely and healthily. one big load off my mind (and body!). haha.

looking forward to a whole new level of adventures ahead!!
