Happy MoonCake FestiVaL! BesT MoonCake Ever - Raffles Hotel Mooncakes

happy mooncake festival!

of all the mooncakes i had eaten so far, i will say the best best best will be the raffles hotel snowskin mooncakes! every year i wanna buy and eat, but every year i did not do so, cuz it's so expensive and 买多吃多 only.

but this year, i heck liao. 吃了再说!

tada!!

the classic and super yummy one will be the one with a white champagne chocolate in the centre. but cuz no alcohol for me, i can only try this new flavour

super yummy also!! the skin and lotus paste are soooooo soft... they literally melt in your mouth!!!

so soft that the skin will go out of shape if you just press softly

and that's the chocolate inside

really yummy lahhhhh! but super expensive also. about $7 per piece. and have to order and specify the date that you want to collect at raffles hotel. very troublesome. every year im looking for and hoping that it has a booth at takashimaya, but it never had.

and it was soo good that i told hubb to sponsor me another box. kekkekee.

and now, i totally understand why we have to specify the date that we want to collect the mooncakes and why it was indicated that the cakes are best consumed within 5days.

for the 2nd box of mooncakes, we took a longer time to consume. and by the 3rd day, the skin already harden abit and no longer melts with the lotus paste. still delicious, but definitely not as good as the 1st or 2nd day.

i think it has to be bake fresh, eat fresh. that's why have to order online and specify the collection date for them to prepare the orders.

next year, i will definitely buy them again!

yummmmmmyy!!

and i remb last year, we were in europe for honeymoon on mooncake festival. we were sitting outside the hotel with some of our tour members and chatting and feasting on that small little mooncake that our tour guide brought along. and then i was looking at the full moon and thinking what will happen next year.

and so here we are in the next year. how time flies!

this year, had dinner just now at vivo's soup restaurant w mum and dad and bro's family. ytd had dinner at vivo's tcc w my inlaws.

next year... how will it be?

looking forward =)

WheN ThinGs WenT WronG - Spoilt Phone and No ElectriCity

my phone died on me one fine morning. it kept restarting on it's own. all thanks to me dropping it every so often and dropping it real hard on the night before.

i was on the verge of purposely dropping the phone again in the hope that it will revive when i realised that it will only auto restart when the sim card is inserted. if the sim card is removed, the phone still can function normally.

ok, so it's not totally dead... but without a sim card, how to function as a phone??!

things could have been very straightforward if my telco plan had already mature, but the prob is.... it hasnt mature yet!! so i cant simply recontract and get a new phone.

and so, we went to HTC service centre (lucky hubb was on leave!) to see if the phone can be repaired. unfortunately, the warranty has already expired and to have the phone repaired, the cost is estimated to be $300+. huh?!

and then, we went to starhub.. but was told that the recontract fee will be $300, cuz my plan hasnt mature. WTF??

y is something as simple as getting a phone replaced so difficult??

in the end, had to use hubb's plan to recontract, as his plan is alrady more than 21mths and can recontract without a fee.

but the complications did not stop there. apparently, i only want a zero dollar phone, but hubb wants an expensive phone as according to him, it's silly to recontract an expensive plan and not use this opportunity to get a good phone.

and then it was decided that he will recontract and pay for the expensive phone for his own use, while i will use his old phone. and then, came the issue of sim card. my phone that spoilt was a nano sim card (Ie. the smallest sim card) and could not fit into his existing phone which uses a mini sim card. on the other hand, his sim card is a mini sim card, which cant fit into the new expensive card which uses a nano sim card. WTH???!

again... WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO GET A PHONE REPLACED??!

and there were even further complications when hubb is currently using multi-sim and his work phone could be affected if we were to change his sim card to a nano sim card.. urgghh!!

in the end, we spent so much time in the telco shop just to get the whole damn thing settled!

grrrrr.

honestly, i think it's the 1st time my phone died on me when my plan hasnt mature. so it's really my first time to get into such a fix.

quite disappointed with my HTC.. used for one year plus only and now went haywire. my previous phone was also a HTC and i remb dropping it many times too, but that phone never spoilt. that's y i stick w HTC. too bad this time the phone not as strong liao...

wait till my plan can recontract next march then i shall see what phone to get. im definitely not a phone fan. to me, so long can make calls, surf net, whatapp, take pictures, im happy liao.

when the whole world was using nokia, i was using samsung. when the whole world was using iphone, i was using LG. when the whole world was using samsung, i was using HTC. hahahaha.

see how special im.

LOL.

******

my block had an electricity breakdown yesterday afternoon. suddenly everything just stopped working - tv, fan, aircon, purifier, what's not..

and worse worse thing was - the fridge was also not working!! and my milk are all stored in the freezer!!!!

yes, my very very precious, money-cant-buy breastmilk!

luckily hubb's eldest bro stays only opposite and his block wasnt affected. we hurriedly transferred the milk and some food to his house and store there. LOL

this incident showed me how much we take things for granted. we (or at least i) always assume that there will be clean water once we on the taps, there will be light once we on the light switches, the fan will work, the tv will work, the aircon will work once we switch on the buttons.

and then we forgot what will happen if something as fundamental as electricity is not available. basically, 90% of our household appliances will fail if there is no electricity. can u imagine?! and i cant imagine what will happen to those who require electricity just to keep alive - ie, living on a respiratory machine... what will happen if there's a breakdown?

it's really scary. a day without electricity. a day when all our electrical appliances wont work. we really do need to reduce, reuse, recycle and conserve. save GAIA!!

and it was lucky that we were at home when the breakdown took place and it only lasted for about half hour. imagined we werent at home and did not know of the breakdown. the food thawed during the breakdown and re-frozen after the breakdown recovered.... and we consumed the food, not knowing that it had thawed and refrozen.. and poor rayous drank the spoilt milk!!

OMG!

AL Lim Clinic @ ThomSon MeDicaL

that's my gynae - dr lim ah leng

had comments that he's fierce looking and yy commented that he looks more like a feng-shui master than a gynae, which i cant help but agree! LOL.

yeah, he doesnt look very friendly. and he can be quite stern with his staff and the nurses. but he's nice towards his patients. v assuring and confident. most importantly, he's very very experienced and i feel really safe in his hands.

he's super popular too.. i remb during the first few appointments, we had to wait for 3-4hrs! yeh, no joke.. even w appointment also had to wait that long. but somehow, subsequent appointments became faster. maybe cuz i became a regular customer liao, or maybe becuz my appointments are just regular check-ups, no more 疑难杂症, so can see me sooner. keke.

my confinement lady also said she had tended to a number of mummies who see dr lim as well.

that's his clinic at thomson medical centre level 5. looked empty cuz im one of the last few customers liao. most of the time, the clinic is soo packed w pple that u dont get a seat at all!

all in all, im glad we were in his hands. will see him again if i have my number 2.... but then, he only delivers at thomson medical which i am not so satisfied with... ummmmm...

GE 2015

uh huh, and so, GE had ended. like so fast lah, from the time parliament was dissolved till polling day on sept 11... it was like wheeee and that's it.

and then i was relooking at the GE 2011 via my blog. how time flies! OMG! 4 yrs passed just like that??!!!

in that post in 2011, i mentioned '5yrs later, i'll be 31yrs old. what will i be like then? happily married? children? career?'

haha, and so now, maybe not 5yrs yet, but yes, im happily married with a child. career-wise, im still w my good old employer, and i think im better off now than where i was back then in 2011.

ok, back to GE 2015.

as like what we did in 2011, we stayed up all night (albeit dozing off abit while waiting for aljunied to recount the votes) to catch the 1st hand results and ended up sleeping only at 5am. super onz xia.

1) lugi on the polling day holiday cuz i was on maternity. urggghh! already lugi once on the SG50 holiday, now yet another day gone. grr.

2) tough fights were anticipated b/w the ruling party and the various opposition parties, but then... the results were not that tough afterall huh. actually quite surprising that the ruling party's votes had increased in all wards when tough fights were expected. well done.

so, next election... should be in 2019 or 2020. hohoho.

so... what will happen to me then? rayous will then be 4 or 5yrs old. will he be an elder brother to a few other siblings? will we be upgraded to a better/bigger house and a bigger car? will i still be with my good old employer?

que sara sara.

looking forward =)

Pregnancy Blood Streaks - Part 2

ok, continue with the blood streaks during pregnancy.

as said, for almost the whole of dec2014, i was on hospitalisation leave. continued to pop pills, take jabs but the blood still did not go away.

i had already fixed a day to meet up a 2nd gynae who was recommended to me by sis-in-law for consultation, when there was plenty of blood on one of the day. so, immediately that day, i went to see the 2nd gynae.

first thing the gynae questioned was why was i being put on such a high dosage of the pills. then after checking, he managed to find out where the blood came from. apparently, there were 2 polyps and the polyps will rub against each other and bleed if i walk too much. his advice to me then was to leave the polyps alone until 12th week when the pregnancy stabilises, before we remove them.

and then, from the loooong hospitalisation leave given to me by the previous gynae, he asked if the previous gynae was going overseas becuz it is not a norm to give a patient such long hospitalization leave without following up. and he was right! the previous gynae was indeed going overseas.

all these just go to show how experience this 2nd gynae is!

so much for the pills and jabs... when it was just polyps causing all the trouble! how come the 1st gynae din managed to find out lehhhh???! caused us to spend so much money and anxiety! made us worried for nothing and made me super low confident about this whole pregnancy!

and before we left the 2nd gynae, he told us to be rest assured and that the baby is going to be alright. that immediately linked me back to what the 1st gynae said to me when i asked him if everything was ok - his reply to me was simply 'fingers crossed'.

-_-"

yes. wad the hell? surely there is something that is more comforting than 'fingers crossed'????????? coming from a gynae to a super fearful and anxious 1st-time pregnant lady looking for some assurance, i think he did not help at all!

ok, dont blame him. perhaps when we consulted him, i was really early into the pregnancy and that's why he couldnt detect what caused the bleeding. and apparently, his expertise is in IVF. that probably explained why he will use such high dosage on his patients.

ok and needless to say, i did not went back to the 1st gynae after that and had been following the 2nd gynae ever since.

dont wanna badmouth the 1st gynae, so shall not 'expose' his identity here. but the 2nd gynae is dr lim ah leng from AL Lim Clinic at thomson medical. lucky sis-in-law recommended him to me.. if i had been stupid and continued with the 1st gynae..... i honestly wondered what would have happened!

that kind of taught me a lesson - some things really do need pple to recommend. and experience do count alot. the 2nd gynae is older than the 1st, so his experience will be much greater than the 1st. really thankful that i found him. phewww!

NighT VisiT To USS

we've been to USS in the day, havent tried night visit before. so when our RC organised the night visit to USS and the ticket price was only at $25/pax, hubb happily signed us up, albeit my unwillingness to go. duh.

hahaha. so grand huh, the signboard welcoming us.. like some big shot, LOL. transport was arranged to fetch us there and bring us back. good RC efforts huh. but we took our own transport lah, cuz their transport arrangement back was quite late.

ok, we still had the luxury to go out, cuz we left rayous with my parents-in-law. hahahaa. so mean of us huh, go out have fun and never bring him. oppsy.

queuing for the new transformer ride which wasnt there when we visited the 1st time round

and the very expensive burger meal at $16/set. the food looked exactly like what burger king is offering, but just because they are sold inside USS w the USS packaging, the price doubled!! and..... OMG. i just read from my old post on the 1st visit and back then in 2011, the set was selling only at $10.50!! 3yrs down, it's now $16?! o man...

and our gift to the little one. kekeke.

the q were definitely shorter than during the day. and of cuz dont have to bear the big hot sun. initially i tot the 2 most exciting outdoor rides are not operating at night, but that night, they were in operations. many of the restaurants and shops were closed though, so that's one minus point if u were to visit at night. the 'feel' will not be as good as day time.

we took the transformer ride, a few kiddy rides which we did not take the other time, re-took some of the rides and that's abt it. 2nd time visit, still fun lah. haha.
