PreGnancY in SummaRy

i better blog down some main pregnancy experiences and figures before i forget

1) tested positive on 9 nov 2014 (omg, going to be a year already!)

2) initial stage was super worrying cuz of the bleeding episode. and cuz of that, i was on medical/hospitalization leave for almost whole of 2 weeks in nov and whole of dec. largely stayed at mum's place during that period.

3) morning sickness was quite bad. nausea, puking, no appetite and super scare of the smell of cooking. when it came to evening time, it's the most terrible time cuz that's the time when everyone starts to cook! simply cannot stand pple cooking... the oil... the garlic (omg x 10)... fish..... even seeing advertisement with those whole fish being cooked (there's one sesame oil advertisement!) will make me want to puke! it was a terrible period! urgh!

4) for the whole pregnancy duration, i dont remember being extra hungry. in fact, i dont feel hungry at all. no cravings and if you insist that i name some, it probably will be burger king and the tidbit cheese super ring. keke. so, the saying that pregnant makes u hungry and have strange cravings did not apply to me in this pregnancy.

5) one reason why i did not feel hungry could probably be the fact that i'd been making efforts to eat stuff that i usually will not. i took special efforts to eat at least 2 fruits everyday, something which i would never have done if not for pregnant! small apples and pears were the most common fruits. i will bring them to work and eat them at around 4pm each day.

and then, i also took efforts to drink those maternal milk daily - one cup before lunch everyday. yes, i brought the whole tin to office. actually i never tot of drinking those milk. it was during one occasion that there was a tin of maternal milk in the complimentary goodie bag given to me, so, since it's there, why not drink it. and that was how i started on the milk drinking. the brand given to me was NAN. after that i tried various other brands like similac and friso and friso is the best! it tastes like milk shake! yummy. didnt like similac because the powder is soo difficult to dissolve, and usually they will end up in clumps. till now, im still drinking the friso milk in the hope to increase the quality of my own milk. lol.

that were the 2 extra things which i'd done and hoped i had helped rayous in. hopefully the fruits and milk intake had benefitted (and will continue to benefit) him.

6) with food recommended to be taken, there will definitely be food to avoid. i totally avoided sashimi despite being a super-lover. i think it's maternal instinct. during that period, i was actually scare of sashimi cuz they might present bacteria to my unborn baby. and there was once i ordered the 滑蛋 horfun and the egg was soo watery that i did not eat the whole plate and ordered something else instead. milk/white coffee was my favorite too, but i limited those as well.

but there was one thing which i just cannot '戒掉' - bubble tea!!!!!

yes.. i still drank bubble tea during that period. bubble tea makes me happy and not drinking really will make me very upset. so no choice loh. even till now.... im still drinking bubble tea quite frequently. haii. i know bb tea are pure nonsense and no benefits at all.. i also hope i can get out of this bb tea longing soon!!

oh, and during that period, i also cant help but continued to drink cold drinks. oppsy.

7) worried with the size of my belly cuz it seemed so small. when i told pple it's x-months already, they will say 看不出. one colleague even kept saying i dont looked like im pregnant. duh. and it really wasnt until the very end that the belly suddenly became big. haha.

also worried about not feeling the movements of the baby. doc said by 22 weeks, should feel already. i remb being super worried and depressed when i still did not feel it when we were onboard the royal carribean cruise. ahhh. 1st-time mum!

8) most of my maternity wears were bought online at qoo10. i bought quite a number of outfits and spent quite a bit, however sad to say, some i did not wear at all, cuz the material was so hot. many arrived quite differently from what i thought. when i bought, i thought can wear as a dress. but when they arrived, they were either too short or too translucent, that actually have to go with a bottom. super hot to wear like that lah! and i could still don on a number of my pre-pregnancy tops, so did not have to totally wear maternity wear, except for the bottoms. and lucky i insisted on taking one pic per day towards the end of my pregnancy.. now can look back at those days liao. keke.

i seriously thought this was a dress when i saw it online.. tell me.. how to wear without the bottom?! i think the model showed online must be a super tiny size one...

and this was taken the day before i gave birth. LOL

9) yes. being pregnant is super hot, literally hot! i dont even have to wear jacket in office anymore!

10) and yes. being pregnant caused me to always wake up and pee in the middle of the night!

11) backache was the most jialek thing that happened! i walked super slowly and cant walk for long. it was so bad that i cried many times! haha. weak!

12) no terrible mood swings, but... always tired!

13) terrible stretch marks at tummy (and now breasts also -_-") and bloated fingers and feet.

14) total weight gain was about 10 kg. nice. did not turn into dinosaur. heng ah.

15) had wanted to take maternity photography but in the end did not. checked with my bridal shop and they charged quite a high price for maternity photoshoot. in the end just gave up cuz still have to bring own outfit etc.. so troublesome...

but we did take some DIY. LOL. dont laugh.

and from this...

.....to this! woahhh!

16) EDD was around 15 or 16july. originally wanted to start leave on 8july (wed) but in the end worked till 10july (fri) since there's no sign that bb is going to arrive soon. then was planning to go mum's hse and wait for labour. who knows, on the 11july (sat), he arrived! and know what? we actually had an appmt with the gynae on the 11july itself. haha.

17) we did attend the pre-natal class by thomson medical. but actually on hindsight, i think dont need to attend also can lah. most of the info can also find online (just that im lazy to read myself) and most of the hands-on can just learn from the confinement lady. i also never do many of the exercises that they taught... so i also dont know what i'd really learnt frm the lessons. opppps.

18) during the early preggie period when i was on mc/hospitalization leaves, mediacorp was showing 三个愿望. then followed by 动荡的年代. towards the end of pregnancy, mediacorp was showing 心迷. i remb catching the show every wkend via toggle catch-up. and when gave birth, mediacorp was showing 长辈甜心. hoho

ok, that more or less summed up the whole pregnancy experience. actually i was jittery and worried throughout. i also dont know why... but just worried and scared... y tummy so small.. y no movements... y this.. y that.. haha.

sometimes, i do miss those days walking around with the big belly. quite fun actually, less the back pain and the worries.

ok, looking forward to the next one.

LOL

Dancing Crab @ Vivocity

ahha, tried out this new dancing crab restaurant at vivocity. had heard about this restaurant from my parents-in-law when hubb's elder bro brought them to the one at turf city. according to them, the food are served on the table (literally served on the table) and have to use hands to eat..

and true enough... they just pour the food onto the table!

actually i think u can choose to have the food to be served on the bowl also lah. i think the waiter did ask us if it's ok to pour onto the table before he poured. i do see other pple eating from the bowl.

for the combo, there'r 3 levels of spiciness - mild, spicy, and extra spicy. we took the spicy level and.... it's really spicyyy! but surprisingly, hubb and dad were ok w the level of spiciness while mum and i were complaining why so hot. LOL

i find the food too saltish. quite expensive also. the combo is $88++ and the portion is recommended for 2pax only. so let's calculate each pax as $50. with that price, top-up a bit can go to some decent buffet dinner liao.

and most of the side dishes are fried stuff. the fries and chicken wings were super oily.  and there's no rice on the menu! diaoo......

oh.. and the service is quite lousy. even w reservation made, we had to wait for about 15mins before we were brought to a table. then had to wait a long time before someone came to take order. and then when we told one of the waiter to help us to take picture, he said he will come back, but he never did. and.. believe it or not, they gave me the wrong bill 2x! when i opened, it was not my bill and not my credit card. and the 2nd time round, they still gave me a bill meant for another table! OMG!

anyway, now new opening promotion, there's 15% discount. and with amex platinum card, there's 25% discount. but i dont have an amex card! grrrr.

i dont suppose i will visit a 2nd time. tried once enough liao.

but i must say, their reservation system is quite savvy. u can make a reservation online, then on the day of your reservation,  an automated call will be made to you and when u pick up, it's a machine talking to you and asking you to confirm your reservation. hoho. no need human being liao. steady.

Happy Birthday to Me Part 2

bday celebration by hubb was a lunch buffet at shangrila's The Line

the cake was a complimentary when hubb indicated that he wanted to celebrate his wife's birthday during the online booking. so nice and thoughtful of the hotel yeah.

1st bday celebration with the new love of my life

had long heard about The Line and had always wanted to try. finally did =)
sadly, cuz of breastfeeding, i dare not eat too much of the raw stuff. urghh!

the spread is really good. it took me 3 rounds before i finally looked through all sections of food. LOL

serves fresh make-to-order crepes! rare!

and hot chocolate lava cakes!! double rare!

durian cakes, durian swiss rolls, and pandan cakes! pandan cakes in a buffet are rare too!

and... bringing a baby along is never easy! haha, 奶爸 in action!

my dearest rayous baby

the buffet is quite good. spread is good, freshness is good, taste is good, service is good. but definitely not cheap. $70+ per pax, after discount.

i havent choose my bday present yet though. shall see what i can fleece off hubb. hahaha.

and... i should also buy a present for myself, right? 30yrs old is a milestone. and surely i deserve something good for completing the sacred task of birth-giving, isint it?

ummmmmmmmm

let me think.

Happy 30th birthday!!

BabySPA Inflatable Bath Tub

ah ha! rayous is 3mths old! hoho.

bought something new for him while we were at the expo baby fair.... interesting stuff...

tada! an inflatable bath tub!

the current bath tub that he's using is kidda small already and easy for his head to bump against the tub. so this big inflatable tub will solve those problems! it's much bigger and soft! and we can easily bring it along if we travel in the future.

see how much he enjoys the new tub! LOL

ok, but also cuz the tub is bigger, we had to use more water. that's one minus point. and the tub gives off one strong plastic smell. hope that will go off soon. oh.. and must remb not to pour hot water inside and not to overly inflat the tub... scare will burst when the air inside expands.. keke

and with him being 3mths old, it also means that my maternity leave had passed 3mths already. ahhhhh... 1 more month and 1 week before im back to work.

OMG.

un-un-un-believable....!!!

and......3mths passed and I tot my backache is gone already. who knows my back is aching again after walking for half a day ytd. in fact, it's still aching now! gosh.... this is sooo scary and sad. I hope it's not permanent damage to my body. uuuhhhhhhh.
