cant believe the same time 1yr ago, i was heavily pregnant. wahahahahahaha.

will be celebrating rayous's bday on this coming sat, and will be travelling the right next day. woohoo! 

the last time i sat on an airplane was for honeymoon, and that was back in 2014! 

finally can travel again....albeit with much anxiety and uncertainty... 

not sure if rayous will be cooperative or not... not sure how it will be travelling with him.... not sure this.. not sure that... 

but... 凡事都有第一次.. no try no know.. right..?

yeah. will see how it goes! 

still a bit of packing to do.. gotta ensure rayous's stuff are properly taken care of..

haiii. 

whacked my baby rayous one good time yesterday night. 

think it was the 1st time that i really hit him that hard. hit him on the hand. really quite hard, cuz my hand also feels painful.. and his little hand was all red after that. 

haiii.. 

but that was becuz he hit me first. well, he's been hitting people.. and we've been trying to tell him that it's not correct but to no avail... and.... he hit me ytd!!

wth. 

连老妈都敢打!!! 现在不教训他, 那要等几时?????

and so, i hit him real hard on the hand, hoping that will send a strong message across that he shall not hit pple again! 

o well. 

打在他身，痛在我心. 

and, it really breaks my heart when he hit me and pushes me away. 

so much so that i broke down crying! 

alamak, drama mama again. 

and now... looking back... i wonder how many times i had broke mum's heart back then, when i kept throwing my temper at her. 

haiiiii. 

really 当了人家的父母才知道.... 

and im really worried that i will become one abusive parent, given my short temper and impatient and intolerance to nonsense.. 

and i have already been warned, that kids will only get naughtier by the day... and i better learn how to manage..

OMG. 

but rayous is really v naughty now already. throwing tantrum when we left him alone. and when we finally carry him, he wants to climb around and touch everything around him. and he's been throwing items out of the cot and playpen etc etc etc.. 

haii. 

so difficult. should just let him be and wait for him to grow out of it? or should interfere and let him know we mean business alrady?

and i think MIL was sooo shocked and heartpain that i whacked him so hard ytd. haha.

Happy Fathers' Day!

fathers' day celebration w FIL was at tung lok seafood @ the arena country club. 

we had wanted to take the set menu, but took the ala-carte buffet in the end. 

honestly, the food was quite bad, coming from a tung lok expectation. most of the meat was tough.

and then celebration with pa. we also took the opportunity to visit sis's new house!

gambling..... again! it's really a good way to socialise and pass time. haha

w the kiddos.. look at the lush greenery behind! like a sea of brocolli!! LOL

and then dinner was at manhill restaurant @ pasir panjang

the restaurant is abit old and the air-cons were not working strongly. it was quite hot and mum kept complaining lah. but the food was not bad and value for money. 

and after that was durian time @ chinatown

3 mao shan wangs for $120.  fwahh.

haha, juz settled down after catching a 9.30pm movie on a thursday night! 

lucky i've got the foresight to take AM leave tmr!! woohooo! can sleep till 'natural' wake up and slowly make my way to office. hahahaha

watched warcraft with hubb and friends at GV vivocity.. one of the least expected movie that i will watch, if not for the husbands..

ok lah, not too bad a movie lah. though at times im quite lost which creature is which.

CatchinG Up With Ex-ColleGues

great catching up with some ex-colleagues over dinner ytd. know what? the last time we met was during my wedding day which is coming to 2yrs liao!! 

had the buffet at furama city centre. there's one-for-one promo for a number of credit cards. ended up nett is about $38/pax. but for $38, i also feel not v worth it. 

the prata is nice, but the curry very saltish. the puesdo sharksfin soup is crap. the porridge got a weird taste. the mutton was tough (at least for that 1 peice i ate). the sushi was hard. the egg pudding was not nice etiher. the salmon sashimi was ok, but they cut until sooo big pieces, that it feels eeeeek to eat raw meat in such big pieces. 

guess the only thing that was good was the prawns and some of the other desserts like the durian puree and chocolate fondue. 

i tried the buffet once before, dont recall it's as bad as now. boo. 

with my QAD. she's totally shrunk!! lose soo much weight lah!

while she lose weight, under my questioning, she commented that i did put on quite abit of weight post-birth. 

ahahahahahahah. coming from her must be quite accurate since she hasnt seen me for so long...... 

ultimate sad.

Coin Deposit

if u remember, i have this habit of saving the one-dollar coins that i have. 

the last time round i went to deposit the coins was in feb 2011 (all thanks to my blog again!). and now... it's time to harvest again!! 

tada! 2 bags of coins... ok, no more cutie saving banks.. now just dump into plastic bags. haha.

which summed up to be $800+. actually i expected more. 5yrs and only $800 is abit too little. 

and so, off to the machine we went! 

this machine at boon lay mrt is quite old already. we had a hard time depositing the coins cuz it kept getting stuck. and then it was so hot and stuffy at the auto-lobby. so we literally sweated it out while waiting for the machine to take in all the 800 coins. 

yeah! $800 richer. LOL 

and know what? there are specific days and timings if you want to deposit coins at the branch over-the-counter. i think it's every tues and thurs and at some odd timings like 2-4pm like that.. how duh. and there will be a fee if you deposit coins to an adult acc. see the coin deposit fee of $9.60? however, if the coins were deposited to a kid's a/c, the fee will be refunded. oh, and the refund is only applicable to posb kids acc. so, we opened a posb a/c in rayous's name and the coins were deposited to his a/c. thereafter, we will transfer the money to his CDA a/c to earn the 1-to-1 dollar match by government. 

hiak hiak. 

smart, arent we? 

ok, so next round of coin saving is on the way. hopefully dont have to wait for another 5yrs before a $800 is accumulated.

oh, and also notice that 5yrs ago, the deposit fee for 840 coins was $6.30. now the fee for 800 coins is $9.60. 

ha. best. 

ConTacT Lenses

ahha, so my left-eye contact lense chipped off on friday morning. it was uncomfortable and i took it off a few times to rinse it, but apparently, still uncomfortable. it was only when i took a closer look that i realised a part of it had chipped off. 

lucky hubb is wearing disposables, so i took one lense from him. degree abit different, but can tong for awhile lah.

and yes, it's really time to change my lenses. due to a flat eyeball, i cannot wear those off-the-shelves disposables. if i wear those, it will become very uncomfortable after a short while. so, i have to go for customised permanent lenses. 

and i really really cannot remember when was the last time i made the pair of lenses le. really vvvvvvv long time ago liao. i already had the intention to change to a new pair when the left-side chipped off. ha, how timely! 

so went back to the same optical shop and know what??? they retrieved my record and guess when was the time that i made the lenses? 

Jan 2007!!! (this blog hasnt even started! no wonder i dont recall blogging it. haha!)

wooowowwww! a good 9yrs!! can u believe it?!

a pair of contact lenses that lasted for 9yrs. woot! 

and i remembered the pair before this pair had also lasted me for a long long period of time. 

that's y i kept going back to this optical shop. and i was so damn afraid they stop doing permanent lenses, cuz apparently, many optical shops no longer do perm lenses.

haha!

9yrs ago i did it for $120. now is $180 liao.

ok lah. increase of $60 over 9yrs. still reasonable lah. and $120 lasted me for 9yrs! 

incredible!! 

honestly, it's not correct to use a pair of lenses for such a long period of time lah. rightfully, should change a pair every 2yrs. im really lucky nothing happened. phew. 

but i really must say, the perm lenses by this shop is really really very good. i can wear for long hours and still feel ok. 

again, wearing lenses for long hours is also not recommended. i really should wear specs more often. but then, i have tried wearing specs to work and it's really uncomfortable after a while. it gives me ache around the ears, neck, head.. dont know how to describe, but just uncomfortable. so i dont dare to wear specs to work liao. 

of cuz, i also contemplated the idea of lasik. being able to see clearly once eyes are opened, was something i long lost. it will be amazing to have that ability back. and dont have to endure the dryness and stickiness after long hours of lense wearing and the trouble of washing lenses, will be great! but then... think about it... is it really worth the risks? sure, lasik is more and more advanced and common and what can go wrong when everyone did theirs fine?

but remember i always got a problem with the medical practitioners? yah. so at this moment, i still dont think the advantages of a lasik outweigh the risks involved. i shall stay contented with my specs and lenses. =)

ok, anyway, my new lenses will be ready in 7-10days. haha. shall c how long this new pair will last me ok.

ha, life before having a kid vs life after.. 

window grilles - for one - were specially installed because of rayous. for obvious reasons lah huh.

ok lah, not as ugly as i expected it to be lah. in fact, i thought the living room somehow looks better now, with the grilles on. like more 'classy' feel. LOL!!! 

and not only that... almost every corner of the house has become rayous's territory.

this whole toothache episode..re-iterated something to me. 

we (or rather, i) had been taking things for granted.

during that few days when my tooth and jaw hurt, my mouth couldnt open big and i couldnt munch w ease. when i saw hubb 大口大口, 痛快痛快的吃时, i told him in the exact words - 我好羡慕你喔.

从来都不会羡慕，直到失去 。因为与生俱来，所以不懂失去的痛苦。

eating and munching heartily is like an everyday thing. what is there to envy? 

really. until u lose that ability, u will know how great it is to have this ability. 

treasure what you have people. 

NEVER take things or pple for granted. 

they never are. 

RooT CaNaL ConTiNueD....

great. so im still in pain after the completion of the root canal. great.

apparently the dentist said the root canal was done properly and i should wait a week before the post-op pain will go away. 

HOWEVER

if it still doesnt go away in a wk's time, he will refer me to a specialist to see if there are other problems or not. 

great. just great. 

i seriously should have just trusted my gut about this young dentist. but that day, i had actually prepared to go to work when i decided to take MC to see a dentist. so it was quite early in the morning that i was roaming around in JP trying to find a dentist. apparently, all dental consultations are by appointment and the earliest was 10am (which was this dentist). i honestly went to all the dental clinics i could see and really, NONE can just walk-in. 

so i fixed up with this dentist at 10am and another dentist, at 11am i think. remember, i went for 2 consultations, right? so this dentist is young and gave me the vibes that he's not very experienced. but i tell u, the other dentist is a lady and also verrrry young! i seriously dont think she can be any better than my this dentist. what's more, she told me it will need 4sessions to  get the canal done, while my dentist said 2, and she's also more expensive. and so, naturally, i went ahead with my dentist. 

so cant blame me for getting the wrong guy right? i already went for 2 different consultations to compare. and this dental clinic that im visiting is quite reputable one. so.... really not my fault for finding a wrong guy lahhhhh..

why didnt i just remember the lesson learnt from my 1st gynae visit??? remember my very 1st chuii gynae who also FAILED to find out why i was bleeding back then??? 

perhaps i should have just asked upfront how old are their dentists and simply wait for an appointment to see a more senior one. i really should have just done so! 

grrrrrrrrrrrr.

i always have this issue when it comes to medical care. always. and to think that i even harboured the thought of having a lasik done. NO WAY now, with a track record like this. 

i love to be young. it's great to be young. 

but then...... something just must come with age. and especially so for medical practitioners. experience is verrrry verrrryy important.

speaking of myself too. now that i think about it, compared to most of my colleagues, i really am junior and inexperienced. really need to buff up abit. 

or maybe, it's just me. always having problems different from the norm. haiz.

wish me luck ok. i have till thursday to see if a specialist is required.

皇天不负有心人!

rayous has finally slept throughout the night yesterday (and this morning of cuz)!!! 

we put him to sleep at around 11pm... and he slept till this morning around 7.30am! 

it's a great breakthrough!!!! 

hahahhahaha. 

the best that he had ever done, if i remb, was waking up only 1x in the middle of the night. and that happened only once i think. other than that, he's almost always waking up 4-5x... almost 1x every 2hrs... really!!! 

i know of pple who had been 'training' their babies at v young age, so that the babies can sleep through. i havent really done that, and like what many pple had said (which i also agree), i had been indulging him a little too much. allowing him to sleep on our bed, readily offering him to latch on once he whine abit... etc etc.. i can understand when he was very young and he kept waking up at night.. but now that he's 10mths, waking up every 2hrs is really too much le lah. 

well, so that day we did try to 'ignore' him when he refused to sleep on the cot and started crying. we off the lights and let him cry cry cry, hoping that he will eventually get the message that we r not going to indulge him anymore and he better fall asleep on his own. but in the end..... he cried till he vomitted all over!!! once we carried him, he immediately stopped crying. tears and mucas and vomit all on that one little innocent face whose wish was only to sleep w us.. why are we soo cruel huh??!

 that moment, i told myself, i will never let him cry like that again. 

我生得他出来，我就肯被他折磨. 

完了. i think i will become one indulging mother. uh-oh.

anyway, just very happy with the improvement. finally seeing some lights. im quite sure he did not wake up at all throughout the night, unless i was soo dead deep asleep that i totally missed it. 

hopefully it's not just a one-off ahh! kekeke

RooT CaNaL Follow-Up

ok, so my root canal is more or less completed. the dentist had put in the permanent filling w the top sealing off part being black, instead of white. reason being, if for any reason the root canal wasnt successful, it's easier to spot and remove the black filling instead of the white filling. uh-huh. 

anyway, now is to monitor and see if the pain comes back. if it doesnt, i can have the black filing removed to change it to a white one. umm. 

that's the x-ray done. yeh, looks like the filling has been done nicely, all the way to the bottom... yeah root canal..

hopefully so. no more pain plssss. 

that's $550 + medicine price + surgical equip + gst gone. all in all about $630 bucks for a root canal done. lucky no need to put a crown, else that'll be another $1k+ extra. woot! 

but ok lah, at least the consultation fees and x-rays were not charged separately. and the dentist has been following up personally, apping me now and then to make sure im ok. not bad to have a dentist in the contact list huh. 

anyway, toothache is really a nightmare. pls take care of your teeth, peeps.

oh, and on a side note, the dentist said my wisdom tooth is slanted, and it's just a matter of time before it will give me problem. 

wah, what foresight. 

haii, just wish me good luck ok. 

now my jaw is all sore again, all thanks to having to keep the mouth wide open for like 1hr.... 

grrrr.

actually really thankful to her for helping to take care of rayous, even throughout the nights. that leave me with a peace of mind and still able to enjoy undisturbed sleeps on some nights... else... i guess i would have turned into a zombie long long ago liao. keke. 

and of cuz, it's my 1st yr celebrating mothers' day in the capacity of a mother. 妈妈真伟大!!  LOL

and... a small appreciation from the hubb. hahahhah. lucky someone still remembers. =)

looking forward to receiving presents, kisses, and thank yous from rayous in the future. haha. =)

true enough... the 1st part of the root canal wasnt done that properly and that explained the persistent pain in the tooth and gum, which really shouldnt be that bad. 

went back to the dentist and cleaned up one more time. 

haii.. young doctor.. really cannot be trusted.. but then as we advance in age, it's only natural that the doctors will also be more or less around our age right? not as like when we were young, the doctors will definitely be older or much older.. you get wat i mean?

just like teachers. in the past, teachers are all the old old senior kinds. but now, all the teachers seem soo young. but that is not because the teachers are getting younger, just that the age gap b/w us and the teachers are getting smaller as we gets older... 

u get what i mean??

anyway, now the face half numbed again... hopefully really NO MORE pain after the ana goes off.

RooT CaNaL - OMG

ahhh! this is killing me! 

had a toothache since friday. actually i 1st experienced such toothache many yrs ago (thanks to my blog, it was april 2010!). that time a root canal was already recommended but i kind of f**k care it, since the pain went off after taking some painkillers. since then, on off, the pain will come back, but it will quickly goes off like within a day. except this time.... in pain since friday and the gum like got one bump forming and is painful when pressured upon. 

and so... i went to c a dentist. and same thing, a root canal was recommended, else extraction. went for a 2nd opinion at a different clinic and the doc said the same thing too. 

haiiii... 

and so, did the root canal at $550. crown is likely not needed but to be confirmed upon the followed-up. yes, hopefully no crown needed, else it'll be another $1K. WTF. but surprisingly, there was no additional charge for the consultation and the x-ray done. haha.

and worse thing is.. after the root canal, im in more pain than before! well, the dentist did tell me that there may be some pain after the anesthesia goes off, but... i wasnt expecting this pain which is even more painful than before! 

i really wasnt expecting this and from what i found online, it seemed that there should only be mild pain after a root canal done. shucks. 

and..... there will be failed cases of root canal. success rate is 80-90%.... will i be that suay 10%???? 

grrrr. im soo god damned worried now lah. why am i experiencing such pain. informed the dentist and he told me to monitor and to go visit him again tmr if the pain persists. 

omg! 

one young doctor.. dont know can trust or not... grrrr. prior to that he already gave me some 'not-very-zai' feeling.. why did i still went ahead huh?! omg.

anyway, that's the x-ray done.. 

from the post in 2010, a root canal costed $350. now $550. woohoo! 

anyway, pray for me pls... pain pain go away... dont ever come back again... =(

RaYous's 1st Teeth BrushinG

haha, rayous's 1st brushing experience! LOL 

i honestly dont think i was given such oral care when i was his age. i mean, who the hell will think of brushing a baby's teeth?! yet when he was just a few months old, we were already told that we have to help wipe his gum and tongue. and now that he's got teeth growing out, it's time to use toothbrush to brush them. oral care aside, the brushing will also help to stimulate the growth of the other teeth. uh-huh. 

and so we bought him that toothpaste (which indicated 'from 3mths', o seriously?!) and the smallie toothbrush. LOL. and the toothpaste cost $17.30! fwah. 

and he's taking it quite well! better than using the wipes to wipe his teeth and gum and tongue! he will always struggle when we use the oral wipes on him. 

and now that we have switched to using brush and paste, seems like the oral wipes are redundant liao. think still got 1 or 2 boxes unopened. and they are not cheap somemore. umm. maybe should just continue to use it on him, on top of the paste. hahaa..
