participated in my division's CSR event ytd.
tasks were to teach the old folks to do mooncakes and lanterns..
tada, looks pro yeah?
was reminded by a colleague not to post the bene on social media to protect their privacy, henceforth, blanking out the uncle's face.
was chatting w the uncle and he's 83 yo, staying alone in a 1-room flat nearby. asked him how about his meals? he said he does his own cooking. asked him how about the ingredients? he said he will go the the ntuc once a week to stock up on the ingredients.
the other uncle whom i chatted with is slightly worse off. he is wheelchair bound and 1 hand is too weak to move already. also cannot really speak properly liao, but managed to hear him say he's staying w a room-mate and there will be pple who deliver food to him. and he usually doesnt go out, cuz of the inconvenience. but apparently he's not that old. he said he's 66yo..
人到老年真的很可怜. especially staying alone... who to help if anything were to happen?
then was at another place and saw another old man happily playing with the grandchild.
为甚么有些老来可以含饴弄孙,有些却要孤独一人呢?
but then again, while we sympathise them, maybe they are enjoying 一个人的无忧无虑呢?
well, i dont know.
though CSR events are for good causes, i always get very emo during and after that. like going to old folks home, orphanage, or special schools..
just hope 大家可以开心安康....
