my phone died on me one fine morning. it kept restarting on it's own. all thanks to me dropping it every so often and dropping it real hard on the night before.
i was on the verge of purposely dropping the phone again in the hope that it will revive when i realised that it will only auto restart when the sim card is inserted. if the sim card is removed, the phone still can function normally.
ok, so it's not totally dead... but without a sim card, how to function as a phone??!
things could have been very straightforward if my telco plan had already mature, but the prob is.... it hasnt mature yet!! so i cant simply recontract and get a new phone.
and so, we went to HTC service centre (lucky hubb was on leave!) to see if the phone can be repaired. unfortunately, the warranty has already expired and to have the phone repaired, the cost is estimated to be $300+. huh?!
and then, we went to starhub.. but was told that the recontract fee will be $300, cuz my plan hasnt mature. WTF??
y is something as simple as getting a phone replaced so difficult??
in the end, had to use hubb's plan to recontract, as his plan is alrady more than 21mths and can recontract without a fee.
but the complications did not stop there. apparently, i only want a zero dollar phone, but hubb wants an expensive phone as according to him, it's silly to recontract an expensive plan and not use this opportunity to get a good phone.
and then it was decided that he will recontract and pay for the expensive phone for his own use, while i will use his old phone. and then, came the issue of sim card. my phone that spoilt was a nano sim card (Ie. the smallest sim card) and could not fit into his existing phone which uses a mini sim card. on the other hand, his sim card is a mini sim card, which cant fit into the new expensive card which uses a nano sim card. WTH???!
again... WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO GET A PHONE REPLACED??!
and there were even further complications when hubb is currently using multi-sim and his work phone could be affected if we were to change his sim card to a nano sim card.. urgghh!!
in the end, we spent so much time in the telco shop just to get the whole damn thing settled!
grrrrr.
honestly, i think it's the 1st time my phone died on me when my plan hasnt mature. so it's really my first time to get into such a fix.
quite disappointed with my HTC.. used for one year plus only and now went haywire. my previous phone was also a HTC and i remb dropping it many times too, but that phone never spoilt. that's y i stick w HTC. too bad this time the phone not as strong liao...
wait till my plan can recontract next march then i shall see what phone to get. im definitely not a phone fan. to me, so long can make calls, surf net, whatapp, take pictures, im happy liao.
when the whole world was using nokia, i was using samsung. when the whole world was using iphone, i was using LG. when the whole world was using samsung, i was using HTC. hahahaha.
see how special im.
LOL.

my block had an electricity breakdown yesterday afternoon. suddenly everything just stopped working - tv, fan, aircon, purifier, what's not..
and worse worse thing was - the fridge was also not working!! and my milk are all stored in the freezer!!!!
yes, my very very precious, money-cant-buy breastmilk!
luckily hubb's eldest bro stays only opposite and his block wasnt affected. we hurriedly transferred the milk and some food to his house and store there. LOL
this incident showed me how much we take things for granted. we (or at least i) always assume that there will be clean water once we on the taps, there will be light once we on the light switches, the fan will work, the tv will work, the aircon will work once we switch on the buttons.
and then we forgot what will happen if something as fundamental as electricity is not available. basically, 90% of our household appliances will fail if there is no electricity. can u imagine?! and i cant imagine what will happen to those who require electricity just to keep alive - ie, living on a respiratory machine... what will happen if there's a breakdown?
it's really scary. a day without electricity. a day when all our electrical appliances wont work. we really do need to reduce, reuse, recycle and conserve. save GAIA!!
and it was lucky that we were at home when the breakdown took place and it only lasted for about half hour. imagined we werent at home and did not know of the breakdown. the food thawed during the breakdown and re-frozen after the breakdown recovered.... and we consumed the food, not knowing that it had thawed and refrozen.. and poor rayous drank the spoilt milk!!
OMG!
