Maldives - HeRe We CoMe!

woohoo! will be going Maldives this may!

it started off with planning a family Genting trip on 11may to 13may...

then came across the budget airline promotion to HK.. then i decided to take my block leave from 13may to 23may....

initial plan was to go genting then HK... but it seems a little silly to spend money and so many days of leave on somewhere we've been to soooooo many times..

then the idea of Sydney/Melbourne came along. May will be a good time to go since the weather will be v cooling. scoot air tic is about $600+...

then we visited SIA website and SIA is flying to sydney at $700+. was contemplating whether to fly with SIA when something caught hubb's eyes - flight to Male (pronounced Mah-Lay).

apparently he doesnt know where is Male and so he went google it. and it was found out that Male is the capital of Maldives. and tada! we settled on Maldives, which is the more sensible choice, as compared to HK (which we have been to so many times) and Sydney (which is more or less similar to perth n goldcoast, i suppose)

so for an air tix of $860 each, we will be travelling to Maldives for 6d5n. yeh!

we've checked with the agencies. if we were to book the free n easy package through the agencies, it will easily costs $3K+ for 3nights stay. but of cuz, the accomodation are the good ones (eg. club med, sheraton, holiday inn...)

im not that particular about accomodation.. so we decided to do the free and easy ourselves. with accomodation and food, hopefully can keep below $2.5k.

anyway, from what i have gathered so far, there is NOTHING to do at Maldives except for the sun, sea, and sand. there is no shopping, no sight-seeing, nothing. so im not expecting to spend much except for food. heard EVERYTHING there is expensive. according to a fren who has been there before, each meal can easily costs USD100. incredible, but i believe that is the price to pay as it really is a resort and the country relies heavily on tourism....

ok... looking forward... will be a super relaxing trip since there is nothing to do. shall bring many cup noodles along. hahahaa.

was also trying to fix a short hk/macau trip immediately after we touched down from Maldives. but dont think that can materialise liao, as the time is really short and too rush liaooo.. no point spend another sum of money for a mere 4d3n... and have to rush like mad... mmmmm.
