Olympics 2016

and so the 2016 Rio Olympics had come to an end.

this yr, without the live coverage, honestly i felt the whole SG wasnt that involved. i myself did not catch any match. it was like we dont even know Olympics was being carried out in the other side of the globe.

that was of cuz, until joseph schooling made a big hoo-haa by winning our very 1st gold medal!

woohoo!

referring to my blog post in 2008 when SG table tennis team won the silver medal, i was saying it took us a good 48yrs b4 we won something again and was thinking will it take us another 48yrs to obtain the next medal.

and so...

uh huh!

we did not have to wait thaaaaaat long huh!

at least, my same old blog is still here. and the same old me is still blogging!!

hahahaaa!!

and in that post, i was saying dont know how many yrs b4 we can have singapore-born sportsmen winning medals for us, becuz the priority here is education and not sports. and i was quite sure no SG parents will want to put their children through such tough training blah blah.

and so.. schooling and family kind of prove me wrong! hahahaha.

no lah, i still think i am right lah. schooling and family is definitely the very very rare few.

and they definitely deserve all the glory that they are enjoying now after all that they had gone thru. spending the time and money grooming the son, parting with the son, and not to mention the gruelling training the boy had to go thru. winning phelps and getting the gold medal was no easy feat!

let's see how he'll perform in the next olympic which will be in 2020 tokyo!

四年后见!!

ND Rally 2016

ok, so the summary for the ND rally this yr, in the simplest point blank form - there is no benefit for us.

 uh-oh.

and honestly, the issues brought up were so dry that i almost dozed off while holding a half-asleep rayous in my arm who was happily bf-ing.

and then rayous woke up and that kind of woke me up from the dozing mode. and that was how i managed to catch the moment when PM Lee went silent and his expression changed to a struggling one and the camera went focusing elsewhere. then the rally was suspended for a good one hr plus before he resumed and ended briefly.

what a scare man!

like so sudden.. what happened xia.

lucky he's ok. i do like him alot. very charismatic. haha.

and.. always proud to have had taken a pic with him way back in 2007....

Day 5 - MaCau - 14/7/16

day 5 of our trip was still in macau.

started off with the famous portuguese egg tarts!! yummy!

if you have been to macau, u will know the most famous bakery brand there will be koi kee. and there's really a reason behind it. the 2 bakery shops (koi kee vs another brand) were there side by side (in venetian), and we tried the tarts from both shops. and i tell u, koi kee's tarts really won big time. much tastier than the other brand.

and as usual, at macau, the landmark and must-visit place - st paul's church

if i may just bring u down the memory lane.... to see how many times we have visited macau..

2010....omg, how young

2011......

and 2013... hahaha

ok, back to 2016.

as usual, the whole area was superrrr packed w pple

it is here that u will see how famous the koi kee brand is. almost 1 shop in every 5 steps and all are equally crowded. then u will see pple carrying all the yellow bags of goodies from this brand. actually this brand also can be found in singapore liao, at chinatown. but they dont sell the egg tarts here. boohoo.

in the end we also bought alot of the goodies from this brand. ahhh. whyyyy?? whyyyy carry all the way from macau when it's all available in SG??? really horr...

very diffcult to navigate the place w rayous and w soooooo many pple all around. somehow, the alley that sells my fav 'yong-tau-foo' alike food and bbt and stuff seemed to have disappeared. sadddz.

then back to our hotel..

rested before we came out for dinner again. ha

the very very nice backdrop...

just like the real venice...

yep. and the next day will be back to HK and back home liao.

stay tuned.

HappY NaTioNaL Day.. Again!

hhaha, this national day has been a fruitful one.

had lunch at nihon mura, followed by a movie - skip trace - at shaw balestier. had never been to that mall before, and if not for the movie, we wouldnt have thought of visiting there either. quite an empty mall, not many shops in there. but got one large outlet of sportslink there and having discounts. so i took the opportunity to buy the swimming gears so that i can start swimming again. haha.

anyway, after that, we went for a game of escape. the first time we played at the cathay. this time we played at orchard central.

ok, the game we played today is definitely simpler and more straightforward than the one we played the other time.

honestly, i think we would have solved it, if not for the one big blunder that the crew did - they left out 1 prop!!!! literally!

unbelievable lah! how could they??! seriously.... im still thinking if i should lodge a complaint.

yeh, and so, we failed the mission. grrrrrr

after that was to imm for dinner with in-laws.

not bad huh, did so many things in 1 day. very happy! LOL

last yr national day, i just finished my confinement. really soo soo fast lah. one yr passed just like that.

yeah, so .. happy national day... once again!

The Day

after a hiatus of 2yrs.... i finally went jogging again!!

yes, ever since married, i've not been jogging liaoo.

i used to jog quite regularly (remb how i always occasionally will fall down cuz of jogging??) those days... i really was quite siao on... worked OT liao still can come home jog.... that lasted for 2-3yrs if i remb.. until i gave up cuz instead of losing weight, i think i've been gaining weight over those yrs.

and then i kind of picked it up again when i bought a treadmill at home. somehow i got into the illusion that jogging at home will be much better than jogging outdoors. then i remb i jogged on the threadmill quite regularly too, in prep of wedding.

and then the whole jogging thing came to a halt once i became preggy.

and then after giving birth, i can still excuse myself w the fact that the body needs to rest and recuperate.

after that came breastfeeding and it is just not possible to exercise when u have to pump regularly. anyway, breastfeeding in itself, is a form of exercise already, isint it?

but now, after 1yr of giving birth and breastfeeding, there is just NO more excuses not to exercise liao. breastfeeding is not an issue anymore, cuz the supply is sooo soooo soooo low, that it's almost empty liao. of cuz, can argue on the fact that i need all the rest i can cuz looking after rayous is not an easy task blah blah blahh..

but those will not help the fact that..  I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO SHED OFF THE WEIGHT I GAINED DURING PREGNANCY!!

1 whole yr..... and i still havent got back to pre-preg weight. not as if the pre-preg weight is any ideal weight... but now, it's definitely worse worse off.

no more excuses that i can find liao. seriously need to put a stop to this weight-gaining thing. need to work-out and seriously shed some weight liao. else... i really is on the way to become one fat aunty. OMG. i wanna be hot mama, not fat aunty

****scream****

and so, 1aug is the day.. to start a healthy lifestyle!!

and surprisingly, i can still jog quite well! hahahaha. not bad not bad, for someone who hasnt exercised for 2yrs.. *applause*

and i will work hard to cut on the diet as well. in the past, i think i gained weight despite jogging because i ate more, thinking that since i have been exercising, it is ok to eat. but that is a very wrong concept. because u can jog ur lungs out and that probably will burn 300kcal. but a bubble tea alone will add back 500kcal. so nett nett, u'll still gain 200kcal. u get what i mean?? so in the long run, instead of weight losing, it will be weight gaining.

so now, really have to watch diet liao. esp with age catching up, metabolism will be another issue.

ahh man.. why do i make myself sound soo old???

ok, anyway, good start.

jiayou!!!

Day 4 - MaCau - 13/7/16

day 4 - ferry to macau!

we took the first class seats.. didnt want to sqz with the many pple...

and the seats came with some light refreshments. nice.

tada!

not bad right.. got our own little corner.. the 1st class seats are at the upper deck and it's almost empty.. only us and a few others only. no money to take 1st class flight.. but at least can try out 1st class ferry. kekekeke.

an hour ride from hk to macau... rayous still considered quite cooperative lah. except for the usual wanting to move here move there touch this touch that..well, at least he wasnt cranky or suffered from sea-sick or what..

we were quite worried about this transition from hk to macau.. cuz it's really not easy travelling with 2 seniors, 1 kid and the sooo many barangs. luckily the whole transition still considered quite smooth.

finally to our hotel - venetian macau.

the reality of parenthood yet again...

the thing about this venetian hotel.... even the cheapest room is BIG. yeah.

settled down, rest and then was to dinner.

had dinner at this foodcourt just below the hotel. and.. everything was expensive there! a pork chop rice costed S$18. a fish porridge was S$10. and know what?? a bubble tea was S$7!! madness loh.

yeh. retiring for the night.

stay tuned for day 2 in macau. =)

Day 3 - HongKong - 12/7/2016

day 3 started with a late breakfast (or lunch already?) at chui wah cha-can-ting.

now seriously, i thought chui wah is one of the most famous and established cha-can-ting in HK, cuz it's almost everywhere (just like 许留山)! i remb visiting the outlet at the peak and the restaurant was super spacious.

so happily, we went into this chui-wah, which unfortunately and to our dismay, was a little 2-storey outlet. and the staff was bloooody rude. she was soo bloody impatient and her attitude really sucks. so much so that i asked her right in her bloody face does she need to be so impatient or not. really. she really was one kind and i just have to give it to her! pay money for this kind of service... WTF? i seriously dont think that we deserved that and i was soo glad that i retorted.

yeah, so after the heaty meal, we headed to wong tai sin. drizzling that day..

and next was to sky100 observation deck - another place which i did not visit despite the many times in HK

this sky100 is located in this building called ICC and i think this ICC is those office cum mall building. and i tell u, the mall is super atas and carries all the big and luxury brands. even the toilet is very atas looking, like those of a grand hotel. haha.

at the 100th floor

and there we wrote a post card to post back home. and yes, we received it in SG already.

tada!

some 3D backgrounds to take pics. honestly, rayous was the most natural in this pic. look at him!! LOL

and.. the reality of parenthood!

yes, everywhere we go, we have to bring along diapers, wipes, cream, extra clothing, milk powder, bottles and accessories, water, cereals, tidbits etc etc and ETC ...............

have to be mobile and self-equipped so that anytime and anywhere, we can fulfil baby's needs. ahhhhhhh.

一个伟大爸爸的背影. 哈哈. but really really alot of things to bring along de. super tiring to have to pack and prepare so many things.

and after that we went back to the hotel to rest before coming out again.

and finally tried out 许留山. the dessert really not bad.

again, with a young child, it is really not quite possible to eat in peace. grrr.

yeah, after that was back to the hotel lobby to enjoy our complimentary drinks from the hotel.

next day will be taking a ferry to macau.

stay tuned ~

Day 2 - HonG KoNg - 11/7/2016

ahha! day 2 of our trip was also rayous's birthday!!

happy birthday naughty one!! yes, the cot was provided on request by the hotel.

day 2 started with a visit to this lin heung restaurant. it is famous for dim sum and i have never been there despite the so many times of visit to hk. so this time round, finally made it there. haha

yeah, the traditional kind of HK cha-lou. ok, the place wasnt as old and squeezy and rowdy as i thought it would be. heng ah.

yeah.. i had to let this naughty boy sit on my lap for most of the meals.. haiz.

the food there is really not bad. not too expensive too, if i remb correctly.

then we took a walk along the dried food street in central.. all selling the chinese dried food.. lup cheong lah, scallops lah, red dates lah, dried oysters lah, dried shrimps lah etc etc.. one whole street all selling the same stuff.

and then... was the journey to lantau island for the big buddha!

and most of the time, i carried the naughty boy using the carrier cuz stroller too inconvenient and troublesome to use. even in SG, i also prefer to use carrier than stroller cuz it's sooo much more convenient to use. if use stroller, still have to always look for the lift and wait for the lift (and the lifts tend to be always crowded somehow!), when the escalator is just right in front of u! and it's a nightmare having to use a stroller in crowded places. and not to mention how the pple in HK cheong like mad shit right?!

and.... when using the carrier, i cannot sit down either. cuz when i do, mr naughty will start trying to climb out and free himself from the carrier. he will only be satisfied and settled when i carry him and walk! yes!! i really indulged him too much liao! HAIZ.

finally reached the tung chung station - one of the terminal station.

haha, not forgetting bbt even when overseas. yay.

preparing ourselves for the big hot sun..

and i tell u, that day was literally a queuing day! tonnes of pple wanting to take the cable car to the big buddha. queuing to buy the tickets took us almost 1hr. and know what? queuing to sit in the cable car took us yet another hr!!!! damn mad shit! i seriously dont recall that the q were so horrendous during the past few times i visited the buddha. WTF.

on hindsight, we should have pre-bought the tickets online, so maybe dont have to q for so bloody long. but then again, to visit the buddha or not really depends on the weather. so we also didnt want to risk buying the tics online but in the end have to abort the visit cuz of rain or what.

anyway, after 千辛万苦... we finally got on the cable car.

i was quite fed up that day actually. it was really poor planning. due to the damnnn long qs, by the time we reached the big buddha, it was already about 4pm. then know what? we got to catch the return cable car which last car will leave at 6pm. so effectively, we only had 2hrs there. and thanks to rayous, half an hr was gone trying to change his diaper, make his milk, and make him drink. and then another half hr was spent in the shop deciding which photos to buy... yeah, that kind of gimmick photos which all tourist attractions will take for u FOC but charge u super high price when u buy..

and so, we only had about an hr to visit the place. q for 2hr for a mad rush visit of 1hr! din even have time to visit the temple and eat the vegetarian food there. grrrrrrrrrr.

and also gotta rush cuz of the impending rain.. see the dark clouds??

really rush rush and rush only loh. really quite unhappy. queued sooo long for nothing i feel. in the end go there snapped a few pictures nia. grrrrr. and.... for the return cable car..... GOTTA Q AGAIN!!! ultimate DL!!!! the long qs were really unexpected. really super siannnnn. the whole day was really spent on queuing. pure waste of time!

the crystal cabin that we took..

and the gimmick photos.. costed about SGD100+.. haiii

yea. after that was back to hotel to rest for awhile, before we headed out for dinner. wanted to bring them to eat the famous claypot rice at temple street, but in the end could not find our way (poor planning again, i admit). ended up in some other restaurant and ate somewhat tze char instead. also ate roasted pigeon for the 1st time. haha. ok lah, the meat abit like duck meat. quite tasty. oh and i tot we kenna dock for the 赖尿虾. so expensive but in the end the meat was dry and tough. grrrrr.

that's all for day 2 - the ultimate queuing day, i will call it. grrr.
