V-Day CuM CnY ShorT GeTaWay - 16/2/2013 - 18/2/2013

just back from genting...good relaxing v-day cum new year trip :)

took the morning coach on sat. our breakfast..

embarking on the 7hr bus journey. seriously, it sounds like a long journey. but it really doesnt feel all that long...maybe cuz we were allowed to alight at a few stops.. hence the whole 7hr doesnt feel like 7hr afterall. and on our journey there, the whole bus only has 4 passengers - us and another couple from china.

i realised most of my pics are food food and more food. the last time we went genting was during my birthday in 2011, which was slightly more than a year back, hence no new activities to do this time round except to eat and gamble. really need to start dieting after cny...

dinner was yu-sheng + black pepper udon..

my 7th yu-sheng for the year (4th was with colleagues, 5th was with hubb's parents and 6th was with ex-colleagues.. will blog abt those later)

not much activities this time round, hence my pics are all on food. went to the casinoes, caught the freeze2 performance, did some shopping.. that's abt all. relaxing trip. good place to visit for just a short getaway. :)

wow, i seriously cannot believe that it is back to work tmr.... the cny hols.... over just like that??! grrrrrrr... why sooo fast??! but already considered lucky that 初三 is a holiday, if not, we would have been back to work today liao.

werent expecting any early release on friday, but lucky for us, boss said we could go off at 3pm if there's nothing urgent.. happy.. went do some last minute shopping at chinatown..

除夕dinner was at qian xi summer garden at mount faber safra. as mum's leg hasnt fully recovered, she decided to have our reunion dinner in a restuarant this year. not cheap.. a course for 6pax costed close to $400... but we were spared the hassle of having to cook, wash etc... wonders of money huh..

the food is good, and the ambience is good too. should have considered this location for my wedding banquet... hmm...

after dinner, we went chinatown to catch the fireworks and fire crackers..

and with that, we ushered in the year of snake!! love that cuteee snake at the back! it's really cool! thumbs-up!!

初一at uncle's house.. the steamboating session is my fave!

and am soo glad that everyone is happy with the buffet catering that i arranged for the celebration at popo's house.. phew! lucky no hiccup like last year... katong catering - good food, service and portion.

and my 3rd yusheng for the year! huat lah!

and then.. it was gambling time!!! soo much fun!

a rainy cny eve... pity those who has a stall opened at chinatown.. been rainy these few weeks.. boohoo.. rain rain go away....

CNY GooDieS

now, with cny just a few days away, it's only normal to start munching on the ny goodies. as u should already know, almost all ny goodies are fattening and here i am to share one horrific finding...

one of my fav ny goodies - ong lai tarts. ironically, i hate those traditional ong lai tarts in tarts-form, but loovvveeeee those in balls-form. and unfortunately for me, i chanced upon a shop that sells just the type/taste of pineapple tarts  balls that i totally loveeeee!

that day i bought a tub home and decided to pack some to workplace. and so, i laid the container with tissue paper, put in the balls, covered them with yet another tissue paper, before i closed the lid.

and.. know what? by the time i reached the office, the tissue papers are soaked in oil!!!! literally!

see the comparision b/w the oil-soaked tissue and a new piece of tissue.

it's quite scary right?? i mean, it's not as if the balls are deep-fried.. why the damn hell are they soooo oily??! same goes for muffins. try laying a piece of muffin on a tissue paper and the tissue paper will be soaked in oil in no time...

 if these seemingly harmeless and innocent food can contain soo much 'latent' oil, i cannot imagine just how much oil and calories those outrageous, known-to-be-fat food can bring...gosh!

but... then again... it's cny period.. what is cny without cny goodies huh?? i already bought and finished 3 tubs of that pineapple balls. and will be collecting 2 more tubs tmr for the actual cny...

little wonder y there are findings that prove that pple do actually gain weight during cny period.

my 1st yu-sheng for the ny! yes, yu-sheng is yet another fave cny must-eat!

and it's really only during cny period that we get to eat yu-sheng.... really once a year nia... must indulge :)

last year record was a whopping 10 yu-sheng... shall try to maintain the same record this year ... LOL. HUAT HUAT HUAT LAHHHH!!!!

day 8... travelling from brisbane back to gold coast..

checked in to our accomodation in goldcoast. i prefer the 1st acccomodation more, cuz for the 1st one, there is a wall to separate the living room/kitchen from the bed. so the bed doesnt get 'smoked' as much. for this one, there is no wall, so whenever we cook, we gotta hide all the pillows and stuff under the blanket...

and the kitchen is not as well equipped as the first one..

the washing machine and dryer, which we used to wash up most of our clothes before returning back to sg.. nice :)

was trying to blog at a mall... but apparently, blogger is blocked from their network.. so couldnt blog..

nothing much on day 8.. cuz time mostly spent on travelling back to goldcoast.. day 9 will be on dreamworld. stay tuned~
