PerTh - Day One

i realised i never did complete blogging on the beijing and macau trips. keke. in any case, now the perth trip :)

~ pending departure on monday early morning. the flight was at 0115 hr on monday ~

and as said previously, we were told visa is req to enter aus only when we were checking in. stunned. it did cross my mind if a visa is necessary but somehow, i jus got the impression that it is not needed. probably i always tot sg passport is almighty. luckily SIA can help us do an immediate online application but that costed us sgd50 each. i wonder if it's much cheaper if we were to do it on our own beforehand. so do remb, if u are travelling to australia, and u are as ignorant as me, a visa is required.

 i realised one of the biggest mistake i commonly make when travelling is the tendency to book cheap hotels but in the end, they turn out to be super far from the central area and as a result, we gotta spend more on transport. that happened during the macau trip and this trip. boohoo. 

the cab fare from the airport to our hotel was about half hr and that costed abt sgd70! can u believe it? i think from pasir ris to boonlay and back to pasir ris wont even cost that much! it's really money sucking! i dont know abt other parts of aus, but if u are in perth, do not anyohow travel by cabs. it's plain E.X.P.E.N.S.I.V.E

~ the beach!! i realised only now from the pics that the sky is really blue in aus ~

~ the very clear seawater. but it was soo cold, i didnt dare to swim in it. yep, that's the weather in perth when we travelled. the temp in the day was around 20 deg C, the sun was super bright and strong, but when the wind blew, it was still very cold. and despite the very strong sun, we did not sweat at all. unlike in sg ~

~ the very 1st meal we had in perth. fish and chips and burger near the beach. the food here was particularly saltish, but i still see the other ang moh patrons adding in even more salt and vinegar. mmm.. ~

~ the food are expensive. every meal costed us about sgd50. but the portion is considerably large. better to order juz 1 set to share and then order more if not sufficient. ~

~ enjoying the beach. no nudity, though i tot ang mohs are ok to sun tan in total nudity. probably in usa? keke ~

that's all for day 1. did nt really go anywhere, juz rackey around our area. shopped abit at the nearby supermart (coles), bought some groceries, went to the beach.. that's abt all. :)

worse part of the holiday occurs when u are about to leave the place and later on, the laundry and unpacking.

actually, not a bad thing to return tmr. cuz, we are seriously BROKE now!

things are soooooo expensive here!

1 AUD ~ 1.285 SGD

15mins use of computer = 2 AUD

1 typical meal for 2 ~ 35 AUD

1 bottle of 300ml soft drink = 3.6 AUD

mixed veg rice ~ 10 AUD (in general, all foodstuff starts from 9AUD onwards)

taxi ride from perth airport to our hotel ~ 30 mins = 56 AUD

see????

no wonder angmohs are sooo willing to spend when they are in singapore, cux relatively, everything is cheap in singapore!!!

sun here is bright everyday but despite that, no sweat. :)

im at the peak of my life now.

most of the times, it's a good thing to break records. better still when u are breaking your own records. afterall, self is one's greatest competitor.

but..... this record breaking thingie.... DEFINITELY DOES NOT APPLY TO WEIGHT!!!!

okok.. i shld calm down. if u break new low when it comes to weight, then it's a good thing (to the majority, at least) but when u are breaking new high.... then it's SUPER DEPRESSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and back to my 1st sentence... my weight is AT THE PEAK OF MY LIFE NOW!!!!

the previous peak, if i remb correctly, was around sec 2. now u are hoping i will disclose my weight here rite?? sorry lorrr.. thou i try to be special, im just one typical cha bo and weight is definitely sensitive!!

in any case, the peak was ard sec 2 at x kg. that was understandable cuz sec2 is the puberty age and definitely will eat more than usual in order to grow. then things got more stable and im usually around (x-3) or (x-2) kg.

but now.... IM AT (x + 0.5) kg!!!!

wah lau eh.

what happened to all the jogging sessions and stress and unhappiness?????? why hadnt they contribute to my weight shedding????

looking at the recent posts, i realised i've been meeting up with so many of my frens and it's always eating + coffee sessions.

dear frens... please meet me for sports sessions in future. no more dinner and coffees okay!!

out with bnf gang on wed to celebrate yan's and jas's bday. venue was at this restaurant at the basement of raffles city - out of the pan

i was expecting seafood.. something like fish and co or mahanttan.. but it turned out to be crepes..

ehhh, honestly i dont quite like it.. but the rest think it's yummy. probably to me, crepes shld be a dessert with ice cream or fruits with choco or creamm.... they should be something sweet. so when they are served saltish with meat and stuff, i dont really like it. hee.

~ and the bday cakes for the oct babies! great effort by the restaurant cux the cakes were bought from another shop, but the restaurant took the effort to serve them on plate and even provide the 'garnishes' and 'decorate' the serving. this is wad i call professionalism!~

I'll be going off to Perth... this coming Monday!

yep, it's a last min thingie again.

actually, the very original plan was to book a tour to shanghai during the natas and travel with the folks. but cuz i was sooo down and sooo prepared to be jobless previously, i didnt really have the luxury to consider travelling.

now that things are better, travelling is back in my mind again. but no more natas fair and the folks arent exactly keen anymore, so no more intention to go shanghai as if i were to go shanghai, i will want to bring the folks along.

i'll be clearing my block leave next wk, and together with the wkends, i'll have like 12 days of leaves! hubb was reluctant to go travel with me, cux he wanna save money. but 12days leave spent at home seem/sound super miserable/wasteful. and so, after my constant pestering, harrassing, persuading and tantrum throwing.. he relented. lol ~

went check out a few tour packages. australia/japan are expensive, taiwan is doable but we dont want to go taipei again cuz we more or less visited most of the attractions in our last visit. that left only korea.

and then we were also contemplating the possiblity of travelling to other parts of taiwan on our own. we kind of decided to take  jetstar to taipei and travel via speed rail to other parts of taiwan when hubb found out that we only need to top-up $140 to fly with SIA to taipei.

and when we check out the SIA website at nite, hubb saw the promo by SIA and tada! we booked the flight to Perth for $690 (vs travel to taipei with jetstar for $700!)

so we'll be away from 18th - 25th... hotel booked for 7 nights at $820. so in total, flt + accomodation is abt $1.1k. quite worth it, yah?

dont knoe wad is nice in Perth and know nuts about the place. things seem expensive there though. really gotta spend some time to do homework this wkend liao.

met up with some of my good old sec school classmates last sunday. venue was at double bay restuarant at raffles city.

~ with siying, whom the last time i met was at our frens' 21st bdays~

~ and xiaoyun, also last met when we were 21. i'll sms siying once in a long while, but for xiaoyun, we really havent been in contact for a long long long while. ~

~ each of us ordered a dish each and everything was for everyone to share. yummy!! divded cost was about $30 if i remb correctly :) ~

glad to see them again and good to know that everyone is doing well. and am glad that at age 25, i can still 'find' back so many of my good old frens. im one lucky gal. :)

today's a good sunday. stayed home and sleep sleeeep sleeeeep. hopefully it'll be a good and tireless week ahead!

KTV wiTH New ColleGues

as mentioned, last fri went k dinner with a few current colleagues @ cineleisure. the spread is like those at sakura buffet. just that here, u get to sing as well. only comes with one free drink. so, do prepare ur own drinks as there's no free flow drinks. cost's abt $40 per pax, but tt's cuz we ordered beer as well. if no beer, think $30+ will do. timing from 7-11. quite worth it yah. can eat, can sing, can have fun :)

it's the time of the year for appriasal again!

well, 2 sides to how one can feel about appriasals.

 for the passive ones, they probably cant care less about appraisals. afterall, the pple managing you and writing your apprisals should be your immediate bosses and they should know u inside out since they work with you day in and day out. so wad's there to write? they should know how much you are worth and reward you what you deserve.

for the aggressive ones, they will be waiting all year long just for this time of the year when they can 'showoff' and make known to bossess of their efforts and improvements. it's definitely a good time for you to boast about yourself and probably remind bosses of the many things that you have done if they just happen to overlook.

 so wad kind are you?

i used to be passive. but now, im trying to be aggressive. afterall, it affects your bonus and promotion chances. definitely can be too bo-chup about it right?

but hard as i try.. i seriously do not know wad to write. worse still when 1st half of the year, i was in the old dept and 2nd half of the year, im in the new dept. im like in the middle of nowhere yah.

think coming march bonus will be quite chuiz. the old dept definitely wont give me a good rating, since i chose to leave. the new dept doesnt know me all that well, so i doubt they will give me a fantastic rating.

ok.. to put it simply.. im diao (stuck)

well, i'll complete the appraisal to the best of my ability. no point staring and pondering if i really dont know wad else to write to glorify myself, rite??

and it's already 1.24am and tmr is only wednesday!!!

i feel sooo god damned cheated!

had wanted to trim my fringe, and so, when i came across this salon in chinatown, i asked how much they charge for trimming fringe and i was told $8. already, i felt that was steep for a mere trimming of fringe. i remb my good old neigbourhood shop only charged $4. but somehow, i still went ahead (which was stupid already!)

thinking that im already over-charged, i told the lady to help trim some of the bad ends as well. and so she did. throughout, i was thinking to myself, probably that will not cost $8 anymore, since im trimming the ends. i tot it might cost more like $10 or $12.

but at the end of it, i was told to pay $31!!!! and she even told me that with shampooing is $38, so w/o will be $31.

the most ex haircut i had was at supercuts.. think that was $40+. now, for just that tee-wee of cut, oh pls, i dont even consider that cutting, it's MERE TRIMMING!!!, i was charged $31!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i seriously am not happy over this. and i freaking hope my skin was thicker to reason it out with her and make a scene!

it's sooooo not worth it!!!

and y didnt she tell me that the charge will no longer be $8 if i were to trim the ends???

that salon is at people's park complex (the one with many tour agencies inside, opposite OG), 1st level, on the left hand side when u enter. think it's the 3rd or 4th shop. the god damn name is E-MAGE.

IT'S A BLOODY SCAM!!!

im thinking if i should report it to the newspaper since there was case where some1 was overcharged on the service charge (apparently that fellow was charged 15% of svc chg instead of 10%) and he reported and the news came out in the newspaper.

but, pple got receipt to prove and i got nothing leh! who will believe i really only was cut (sorry, i mean trim!) a teeny-weeny bit????

My Old ColleaGuEs

out last friday to ktv session with ex collegues. location was k-suites at orchard parade hotel. the room was kidda cool.. with super huge couch which is like a big big bed which u can literally lie on. comes with pillows and blankets too! there's a computer area as well, for pple to play games/surf net. good for those who dont sing, but somehow, still want to go ktv. lol.

heard from them of the many new colleagues who joined. come to think about it, the pple in cmd really changed alot. according to them, if i were to visit them at the office, probably i will not recognise half of the strength. kidda true cux many new names were mentioned. had wanted to go back and visit them on a few occasions but am always lazy.. and now with the new boss, i also dont know if i should/can go back to visit them at the office. o well, see how bah.

pple really do come and go in life huh.

and tmr, im going ktv again! with my new colleagues at current workplace. cineleisure kbox that comes with buffet dinner. 1st time trying the buffet ktv. yumm :)

and it's the start of a new month again! last 3rd month of the  year le! do think about what are the goals set for 2010 and achieve them in the remaining 3mths if u havent done so!!
