just back from cruise this morning. on board royal carribean - legend of the seas!

with mum, dad, sis, bro-in-law, hubb and little neice :)

waiting to board... on friday afternoon.. @ harbourfront.

when starcruise virgo meets royal carribean legend of the seas

our room. kidda small. good for 2 only. clean, cosy and comfy.

1st meal on board. buffet @ windjammer on deck 9 of the vessel

miss cute and me

snack time! but it's always the same food for snacks time/supper.

burgers, fries, hotdogs, pizzas.

dinner time!! yes. it's non-stop eating actions!

they always start by serving bread first... all kinds of bread to choose from..

and the choices are mostly western food.

and then show-time. 1st night was dance/acrobatics performance. 2nd night was magic show. and 3rd night was live band/singing/dance.

this is where the daily show is held. apparantly can hold 600+ audiences. nice place.

and then was KTV session!

and then was casino time.... and supper after that! as said.. the supper are the same food as the day's snack..

the casino is quite small. and only one table for sic-bo (aka big-small).. was looking for the automated sic-bo game table but they do not have it. on board, everything is charged in USD, and i lost USD50 on the 1st night. haiz. looks like my theory in playing sic-bo does not really work all the time.

last day of cny ... 元宵... and someone is on mc again. 1st mc for feb. let's start the number counting!

as said, ive got a feeling 2012 will not be a good yr for me. so, in order to change that 'fate', i decided to 捞 more 鱼生.. and hopefully with that, will bring me better luck. the planned was 8. but, i ended up lao-ing 10 yusheng this year! yeah! a perfect ten! 十全十美!

the first yu-sheng, even before cny arrives. lol. with kristin @ sushi tei.

yes, the 2 of us managed to finish the whole yu-sheng! lol.

the 2nd one with hubb @ sakae sushi.

the 3rd one was a take-home for 除夕dinner.

the 4th one on 初二 at grandma's house. from caterer - food haven.

the 5th one... at sakae.. with hubb again. yes, we r both in love with yu-sheng!!!!!

the 6th one with hubb, mum and dad @ dian xian er on 初七人日

the 7th one with gals @ sushi-tei

the 8th one was during team's cny lunch at loy sum juan chinese restaurant

the 9th one was with bnf gang @ soup restaurant

and the 10th one.. was with hubb and his family at a clementi tzi char stall

also met-up with cmd colleagues.. but no yu-sheng, cuz we had steamboat and no more stomach for yu-sheng.

impressive, isint it??

this time 不发 also 难 right?!

hahahahhaha

actually, i used to dislike the taste of yu-sheng. it's really only in recent years that i started to appreciate this cny dish. really 百吃不厌. yummy!!!!

and so with that, cny has come to an end. time to end the festive mood and stop the excuses of eating and eating and eating. time for serious work and dieting again!!!!

and of cuz, with the so many yu-shengs, i really hope can 风生水起.

I cant believe it's back to work tmr!

4days passed juz like that..... gosh!

regretting not taking leave tmr.

but according to the 'alumnac' that sis-in-law sent me, tmr will be a good day to start work for oxes. hopefully so.

from the so many 运程 that i read so far, apparently dragon yr will be a good yr for oxes.

but then again... so far... i doubt so for myself.

take for example... was gambling with relatives juz now and i already won the bet. yet, a twist of matter caused me to lose that bet. 到了嘴边的肉却又吃不到. i've got a feeling it will not be a good year for me.

yes, yes... it's buffet yet again! urgh! december is really a month to get FAT.

this time is at buffet town at raffles city. the location used to be the jap buffet - shokudou, but now it's occupied by this international buffet outlet.

spread is real good. even better than carousel, which means, better than all the hotels buffets i've went to. but again.. the freshness is an issue.

freshness of sashimies - so so only. and the cooked crabs are definitely not fresh.

but the cooked food (ie. crabs aside) is good. love the chicken rice and the fried rice and the fried beef :)

dessert choices are okay.. but no fondue.. and taste not that fantastic either.

with my ex-colleagues :)

nett abt $41/pax. if u are for the cooked food, then it's recommended. the spread is really good. but if u are for sashimies or desserts, then not recommended.

do make reservation if u are visiting cuz when we arrived at 7pm, the place was already full-house and they are only entertaining those with reservations.

that probably explains why it's 'fore-warned' that the reservation will only be held on for 15mins and will be cancelled if u do not arrive within the 15mins allowance.

so.. in summary, if u are looking for buffets, i will recommend conrad oscar's or concorde spices cafe. these 2 are the best so far, in my most humble opinion.

the sashmies are good. fresh. they slice on the spot. u have to let the chef know wat u want and he will slice for you. fresher that way, but gotta q for awhile too.

serves many kinds of noodle, but i only tried out the tom-yum tanghoon.

i love the dessert there! they got freshly bake waffles!!! and many different kinds of cookies and chocolates!!!! but... there wasnt any choco fondue. mm.. minus pt.

this place is recommended. though the spread is not as good as carousel, but the freshness and ambience are much better. the service of the staff is also better. think the cost is abt $60 each. recommended.

ok, supposed to do this '回顾' like before 2012? but been busy and tired lahh.

anyway, 2011 had been an okay year.

like all other recent years that had passed, it was a super fast year.

1. marks the 1st full year in may with my current dept.

2. marks the end of 8th year in dec with me and hubb. bye bye 七年之痒?

3. brought folks to HK the 2nd time. been to HK and TW... and of cuz.. the small trips like Batu Pahat, Malacca, Genting, Batam...

4. stayed in constant contact with my frens.

5. develop stronger relationships with current colleagues.

6. enjoy my job more

of cuz there is a fair share of indignation and disappointment in 2011, but which year do not?

in anycase, it seems like 2012 will be a tough year. what's with the end-of-world prophecies, down-turn economy etc.....

in 2012, i want to (or rather, hope to)

1. sleep early everyday and wake up fresh and awake!

2. rest more

3. spend more time with families and friends

4. take more initiatives

5. be more organised and less lazy

today (or rather, yesterday, since it's past mid-night now) is a proud day.

was supposed to attend hubb's cousin's wedding as a guest, but at the very last minute, we were informed that they needed emcees for the ceremony.

and... there was no script provided!

so, the very smart me actually went online to surf for emcees script, and with the help of the hotel staff, printed the scripts out.

and when everyone rejected the idea of being the emcees, me and hubb happily took the job!

hahahahah. apple saves the day!

im soooo proud of myself!!

department xmas lunch this yr was at carousel royal plaza on scotts.

heard of this hotel buffet many times and finally visited.

the spread is good, but the freshness is not there. i personally feel that the sashimies are not that fresh and there'r no oysters.

the ambience is also not there. it's like a foodcourt. and as said, the spread is wide, so u actually got to walk quite a bit to get the different food. quite duh...

but there are 3 choco fondues - dark choco, milk choco and white choco. this is quite cool. other than that, i wouldnt recommend this place. so much for the expectation, cuz this place was mentioned by many pple.

1/11/2011 DAY 4 - 九族文化村/台中

as mentioned, our hotel in sun moon lake is rather old. the only virtue is that it comes with a good package and wen-wu temple is just right outside (we realised this only when we arrived)

see all these ornaments that are hanging? there are many many many of them hanging all over the temple..

and, we bought one for well-wishes too

from sun-moon-lake, we took cable car to reach formosa aboriginal culture village - 九族文化村.

reached!

this whole place is soooo big, that they have cable car internally to transport visitors to and fro within the village itself. basically the front section are the exhibitions for the different aboriginal groups in taiwan and the back section is the theme park.

yeah, it's cable car again! need to take it to reach the theme park.

our lunch that day.

generally the theme park is old and the rides arent exactly impressive. we juz went for a 3D show and that's abt all.

okay, that more or less ends the day cuz i have no more pics in my camera for that day.

why?

cause..... that night was the night when i merlion all over people's lobby!

read on if u are keen to know my sob sob story.

after this formosa, we went back to the hotel to collect our luggages. after collection, we were supposed to wait for a bus that will bring us to taichung. we waited darn long and no bus came. we were already very tired, and so, when a cab came along and offered to fetch us to the taichung hotel with a pre-determined fee which we perceived as reasonable, we happily took the offer.

in the car, besides the driver, there was another lady. along the way, the cabbie picked up 2 other passengers who are also going to taichung. so in total, 6 person in a 7-seater car.

the journey was a darn loong one.

along the way, i started to feel unwell. the urge to merlion was slowly building up. i kept praying that we can reach the hotel soooon.

finally.. we reached the hotel. i was tahan-ing throughout the whole journey and i thought i could make it to the room. however... once entered the hotel door, while hubb was checking in, i couldnt help it but the stuff in my stomach just 'gushed' up to my mouth. i could still contain it in my mouth and while i was trying to seek help with my hands, the 2nd round came and this time round, i just vomitted everything on the lobby floor.

and then... i cannot stop vomitting.. it just kept coming. i squatted there and vomitted like nobody's business while hubb continued with the check-in and with my side eyes, i can see people coming into the hotel.

gosh!

it was sooo bloody embarassing!!!!! i dirtied the floor... i cannot stop.... it was all over my hair... and i stink like mad! i felt soo sorry for the hotel staffs as they have to clean up the mess after that..... and of cuz, so sorry for myself.

i think i stunned everybody. so much so that they did not knw how to react, except to act like nothing happen and let me vomit to my heart's content.

it was really really bad!!!!

initially i thought it was indigestion as the lunch was really oily. i thought after vomitting, i will be okay. but it wasnt so. i started to get feverish and cold. so after bathing, i went to sleep.

hubb went out to buy these and the drugs.

it wasnt a good sleep. i slept and wake up, slept and wake up.. there was once when i woke up and felt better. i thought the drug had worked. i even felt like eating and i ate the boluo bun. but in the middle of the night, i vomitted that boluo bun out as well. yah.. it was that bad.

and so, day 4 ended in such a bad state - plain OMG

31/10/2011 Day 3 - 日月潭

3rd day we bade goodbye to taipei.

our hotel in taipei xmd. nice new hotel on the 9th floor of a building. the building itself is quite old and the 1st floor are those handphone shops.. i tot it was quite sleazy.. but the hotel room itself compensated for the not-so-good environment. it's new and cosy.. and the staff are friendly. it's one of the best hotels we had for this trip.

we gave the hotel breakfast a miss.. and we breakfast out..

and then the embarkation to taichung. the high speed rail tix from taipei to taichung @ nt$700 (~S$35)

i love the high speed rail cuz it's clean and comfy. initially i worried for my big luggage, but the worry was unduly as the leg space is really big and my luggage posed no problem at all.

but with the high speed rail, dont expect to see any scenery cuz it's running sooo fast. if u have the luxury of time and dont mind the not-so-clean and new cabin, then take the normal rail. it's slower and cheaper. can enjoy the scenery along the way.

after we reached taichung high speed rail station, we gotta take a coach that will bring us to 日月潭 sun moon lake.

coach dropped us at this customer service point... and we called the hotel to pick us up.

at our hotel. we took the deal that included a one night stay with breakfast, lake cruise, cable car and the ticket to 九族文化村.

finally at sun moon lake :)

the famous and majestic 文武庙 is just outside our hotel.

tea leaves eggs.. and tea leaves goose eggs. super huge!!

looks like a sweet potatoe that im holding right?? it's not! it's the goose egg!!

the cruise ride...

our dinner that night. one of the most exp dinner... and.. i've got a feeling that it's this meal that caused my sickness later on....

see? this fish was served like this. the lady told us to wait 10mins before eating. so.. when we ate, we werent even sure if it's totally cooked or not.

and it's full of bones. had a hard time eating it...

the bamboo rice was soggy on one end. it might be the culprit as well....

but well, it probably had nothing to do with the food as according to the doc, it's some virus in the air. anyway, hubb ate what i ate and he's fine.

we spent one nite at sun moon lake. as mentioned, the hotel came with one night stay, breakfast, cruise ride, cable car ride and tics to farmosa. the hotel room is big, but it's quite old. in fact, the whole hotel is quite old. and the staff here werent as friendly. but the location is good and it's value for money. wad else to ask for huh.

im down with a flu.

my nose is soo blocked. it's soo itchy. and.. it hurts when i breath. sucks.

and, not to mention the irritation that occurs when u almost wanna sneeze, but somehow cant sneeze out. urgh!

juz went to the doc. and he said could be virus infection.

'virus infection'..... not again?!

that time in taiwan.. and now... again?!

i cant help but start to suspect if this could be due to the VS fragrance that i bought at DFS just before departing Sg. i started using it in taiwan and after 2-3days, i was sick. now... same thing again.

it's either that, or the bronzing powder, which i've also started using only when i was in taiwan.

mmmmmmmm..

but then again, if one of them is indeed the culprit, then the 'sickness' should be the same in both instances? but this time is not as bad as that time in taiwan lehhh. so probably neither is the cause?

well.. anyway..

i think it's juz pure lack of slp huh? ever since i changed phone, i've been sooo addicted to playing the downloaded games. so much so that i slept late at night and my fingers hurt, esp at the joints. serious! haiz. pure lack of self-discipline. again.

and.. i went ahead to work today despite not feeling that well and i visited the doc only at night. y am i such a responsible employee?? y cant i juz learn from someone?? that classic someone.

jap buffet. akira @ link hotel. gotta walk a distance from tiong bahru mrt. quite a nice place with good ambience and wide variety of jap food. abt $30+ per pax.

dinner with gals on friday, at timbre @ old school. my 1st time visit there.. at some ulu uphill at mount sophia.

outdoor place, serves western food, with live singing. however, we all concluded that the singing and music were too loud.. so much so that we had difficulty chatting. mmmm.. i personally dont really like the place. i find it too noisy and definitely not a convenient place to visit. hahz.

30/10/2011 Day 2 - Taipei

love taiwan hotels cux they are not expensive and provide all the basic amenities. breakfast included also!

3rd time in taipei, i suppose we have visited most of the attractions already. so, this time round, we went to 猫空. haha, i wouldnt have know of this place if not for the 猫空 milk tea in raffles place. lol.

drizzling that day.. and we snack at this place.. all the usual 夜市 food :)

麻油面线 and 鲁肉饭. the 面线 is super oily..

蚵仔煎. i still prefer our singapore-style.

beancurd in red bean soup and beancurd in peanut soup.. with little aballings :)

猫空 is famous for tea.. and there are many many many tea houses up there.

spot taipei 101!

and.. like all winter.... the day ends super early. by 5plus, the whole sky already darkened. we proceeded to 台北小巨蛋

makan.. again..

and then to night market.. we specially re-visited this nite market.. cuz of the prawning activity. ahhh.. cruelty again!!

use a stick with hook to hook up the live prawns and if the hook comes off, it's game over. all those prawns that are successfully hooked up can be bbq rite away. 6 hooked sticks for nt100 (~$4.50).

very guilty playing this game.. poor prawns.. hooked alived, poked alived, and bbq alived. haaaiii... sorry prawns..

im sick. in taiwan. haiz.

ever since the 3rd day.

in kaoshuing hotel now...

... believe it or not... i vomitted right in the lobby reception of the taichung hotel when we checked in. haiz. all on the floor and all over my hair. ahhhhhhh!!! nightmare!!

and after fruitless self-medication with the drugs hubb bought (by the way, they dont sell panadol nor 风油 here!), i went see a doc the next day. nt400. haiz.

cute way they dispense the drugs huh....

and a jab...best...

according to the doc.. it's some virus that's affecting my intestines. and till now.. my stomach still feel weird. gosh.. how did i get this man?!

no appetite... dont wanna eat anything.. in fact, scare of food now!!!! dont have to worry abt gaining weight liao. im here on a 减肥营!!

urgghhh!!

TaiPei Day 1 - 29/10/2011

blogging from taipei hotel now.. wahahahaaa.

our flt was 3.45pm.. reached taipei 8.30pm.. and by time checked in hotel and settled down, it was already 11pm...

nothing much we could do, so it was the usual hang-around at xmd. lucky it's taipei, where nite lives are active. glad there are still things to do even late at nite.

taking the ever-famous ah zhong mee sua..

and as an improvement.... they now provide seats!!! wahha. no longer need to stand and eat.

hubb is super happy here.. got good food.. got pretty ladiess... wad else can he ask for?

one more day in taipei before we proceed to sun-moon-lake in taichung tmr... mm.. actually no idea where to go today.. cuz all places of interests already more or less covered in our previous trip here. mm..

o, and there's a vast difference in the taoyuan airport! it's undergoing reno.. and it's sooo much bigger now. in time to come, cfm no longer the old and 'nothing-to-see' airport. nice.

haiz, dont know how much weight will be gained after this trip with all the good food and lack of sleep.. uh-ohhhh..

lots of criticisms coming from everywhere on how heartless and cruel these pple can be.

indeed, when i 1st saw the clip, i was thinking to myself wad the heck were those pple doing??!

but before we get work up and start jumping to conclusions, should we take some time to analyze why these pple would react in such a manner?

given common sense in human beings, the 1st thing when u see some1 in distress, is to - help.

however, if by helping that person, will mean possible harm to myself, how many will still go ahead to help?

it was reported that those pple refused to help for fear that they'll be accused of injuring the child. pure nonsense and excuses, u will think. but.... could that not be the case?

in a country like that, where so many things can be flawlessly duplicated, re-produced, counterfeited, what is there that cannot happen?

imagine i go and help the child.. and suddenly the mother dashes out with tons of policemen and accuse me of harming the child and all other witnesses, for fear of getting implicated, agree that i was the one who hurt the child, and i get fined/jailed/whatever. who can i blame? on my kindness?

i've heard of soo many stories that kind pple offer their help to those in distress but turned out kenna robbed/raped by these pple acting as if they need help but they only want u to go close so that they can attack u. so how?

when i went overseas, i came across beggers on streets.. some even brought along their children to beg with them. it hurts to see these pple in such pathetic state. but we were told specifically by the tour guides NOT to donate to these pple cuz it's all scam. and if u donate to one, many others will cheong over. and so, i ignored. does that make me a cruel and heartless person then?

the point i want to bring across is, before we start pointing our fingers at others and start criticising them, we should 1st think - are we in the position to do so?

we are living in a (supposed) safe place. we are well protected. so much so that we took it for granted that everywhere is just as safe. but that is not true. there are many places, where pple are forced to learn how to protect themselves. and by doing so, they become what we termed as 'self-centred' and 'selfish'. but.. is it wrong to protect ownself and not be vulnerable?

it's cruel fact. but it's hard fact. i always believe that all human beings are born evil. it's with education, law and order, and civilisation that keep us sane. and if there's no more law and order, the dark side of human beings will prevail.

it's a cycle, really. u can be kind, but hurt once, i believe u will not be as kind anymore. and it spreads. from one person to another. to a point... where pple can really be as 'heartless' as what we see from the clip.

scary huh. but it's just human nature. accept it.

all in all, if u are an adult, learn to protect and take care of yourself, becuz u cant expect anyone else to. u are fully responsible for yourself and the things/pple u think are important to u. dont start blaming any other pple if something bad happens. nobody is obliged to help u or be responsible of u.

and...dont think that this world is bounded by the common senses that what we think human beings should have. deviations are everywhere.

remember, there is no equality. and there never will be.

so.. never expect everyone/anyone else to think or behave in the same way as u.

learn to accept this. else life will be difficult.

had brunch last sunday with gals at this HATCHED restaurant. it's all about eggs!!

all the different styles of cooking eggs.. u name it, they have it.

my all-time fav.. scrambled egg! yummm!

the food is good, esp if u are someone who likes egg. but the location of the restaurant is really abit ulu... i guess i would never have visited this place if not jio-ed by the gals. haha.

it serves all day breakfast, and when we reached at abt 130pm, it was very crowded and though we already made a reservation, they did not serve us until all were here. so do make reservation before u go. else.. dont know must wait how long liao :)

celebrated yan and jas bday at itacho bugis junction. 1st time i went, and i was told that it's of a 'higher class' than sushi-tei, though i tot sushi-tei 'feels' more classy.

and indeed, the food there is really more ex than the rest. standard wise is average. i would still prefer to go to ichiban or sushi-tei or sakae, where the standard is comparable and (much) cheaper.

met up with JC frenz .. finally full attendance. dinner at tao's restaurant at POMO. recommended by bee. heard of this place for a long time. finally get to eat there. ha.

it's a set dinner. abt $30+ per pax. u get to choose one dish from each of the 'category' (ie appetiser, main, dessert, drink etc)

the food is good. and given the so many dishes, i think $30+ is reasonable. and the tea there is very nice. im missing it! :)

had dinner at ikea the other day. woah! the food there is really affordable!

look at this! a decent salmon dish! it can easily cost >$15 at restaurants but guess how much it cost at ikea? only $5.50!!!! the presentation is good, the standard is good, the portion is good. it's really value for $$$!!

in total only $15.70 (inclusive of 2 drinks)! such good deal! i think if we eat these at a western food stall in a foodcourt, it will cost more. pardon me if i sounded so suah ku, but i seriously have no idea that the food at ikea is so value for money. nothing beats having good and cheap food :)

and i do find ikea an interesting place. so darn bloody big and so many things to look at. good place to hang around if seriously have nowhere to go. lol.

woohooo.. our 2nd day in genting

complimentary buffet breakfast in the hotel. the hotel has got a superrr big restaurant for breakfast. it's as big as a foodcourt, if not bigger.

and then the indoor kiddy rides... i dont know y hubb insisted on having the rides... lack of childhood memories lehh.

short getaway to genting highland this yr for my birdday. as said, it has been a really long time since we last visited genting.

sat morning, boarding the coach at goldenmile..

on the coach for our 6hr ride to genting. watched the movie - 最强囍事 - on the ride.

at yong-peng.. the station that we will always stop by when travelling to genting, for meal and toilet breaks.

6hrs sounds like a long ride, but in actual fact, it wasnt that long. time really passes very fast~!!

and then we visited the Ripley's Believe It or Not exhibition. some really interesting things that we came across.. try them out. u'll be surprise!

and then, we sat on the world's luckiest chair!!

the exhibition is really huge. we spent like 2hrs inside.. some of the things are really incredible, so it's really 'believe it or not'.

and then dinner at the hk cafe.. talk about dieting.. haiiii

seriously genting didnt change much from the last time we visited. probably more retail shops, other than that, it's more or less the same.

the bowling alley is the luminious kind. cool. we visited it on day2. stay tuned!

attended a 1-day course last thurs to learn more on my 'strengths' and how to apply them. basically u have to ans 100+ qns before the system will rank the 34 types of strengths revealed by your responses to the qns.

eg of a qn will be this sentence 'i like to read' and from a scale of 1 to 5, u decide how much this sentence describes u. something to that effect.

and so, my top 5 strengths (ranked in order):

met up with ex-colleagues on friday nite. ate at this restaurant MEDZ in orchard central. it's all abt mediterranean food and the concept is just like marche.

this place was suggested by one of the colleagues and there was a super long queue. the 1st impression when we were in was the limited food variety. unlike marche, there are only a few 'stalls'. and .. cuz it's mediterranean food, we make no sense of most of the food names.

but.. the food is really really nice! we ordered a few dishes and all are good. better than marche.

prices are still considered reasonable. and there's a 15% discount on ur birthday month. it's recommended! orchard central B2. nice. :)

bad experience at natas fair. we were about to make payment when the staff told us that they'd made a mistake on the pricing, and the pkg that we'd wanted to sign up for is in fact, more expensive than what they had initally quoted us.

wtf. wasted my time listening to the itinery. wasted my time making enquiries. wasted my time that could have been spent listening to other packages. made me happy and in the end left me disappointed. urgh!

i juz knew that there wouldnt be such good deals around!

apple holidays/eu holidays. im still thinking if i should lodge an official complaint.

sheer irresponsibility and ignorance to misrepresent and give customers the wrong information!

lunar 7th month has ended! i've refrained from jogging at nite due to the 7th month, now can resume liao. great. well, not being superstitious, but sometimes, somethings are better to be believed than not rite?

and.. i had a fall while jogging this afternn... booohooo... so painful.... :(

i seldom fall down *touched wood*. one bad fall in sec school during a football game had left me with a fractured left arm that will never ever be able to touch my left shoulder again. one fall for bus chasing that left me with bruises on both kneecaps that will never recover. and now this. shucks.

small and long face. probably only 3/4 of a normal face. and i thought she looks quite artificial and mannequin-like. mm.

then sat nite was to the annual 7th month dinner. mum bid a sack of 25kg rice and a wooden fish while hubb bid a money bag coin bank. lucky lucky huat huat ahh!

met up with ex-colleagues on fri nite for thai steamboat at golden mile complex. the food is not bad, but it's non buffet. and, there's no tomyum soup. as mentioned, steamboating without tomyum soup is total crap. :(

and the staff were quite rude and the service was quite bad. so, it's not a recommended place to steamboat unless u really want to have the 'feel' that u are steamboating in thailand. lol. and one bad thing about steamboating, is the smell that u bring with you after that! really stinky! esp the hair... the smell like 'trapped' in your hair like that.. eeks.

sat was spent in suntec/marina. tried out this jap restaurant in marina sq - all about curry.

the food is not too bad and the pricing is quite reasonable. notice most of the staff are foreign workers and when i asked one of them for tabasco sauce, she totally cannot understand what i was asking for and she asked if i was asking for tomato sauce. when i elaborate further that it's something hot, she asked if it is chilli powder that im asking for -_-''

i've got nothing against foreign workers, but i think it's really really bad if the staff cannot even understand simple requests from customers, and i can get super irritated at that. there was once when i asked for drinks, all that person can say is 可乐. when i asked if there's drink A, she said isit 可乐? when i asked if there's drink B, she asked isit 可乐? really what the.....

and... the most classic.. there was once i asked if there's root beer. and the reply - in chinese - was 'no root beer, but got tiger beer, heineken beer...'.

till now, im still wondering if she's trying to joke with me, or she really thought root beer is a kind of beer.

after dinner, had bowling at marina sq. im quite into bowling lately.. and i was soo on form ytd! lol.. usually i will score about 70+ points. but ytd, i scored >100pts in both games! in the 1st game, i was levelled with hubb. but in the 2nd game, i acutally won him!! hahahaha

darn proud lah. but 3rd game, i went back to 80+ points. keke. inconsistent. well, will practice more de. bowling is such fun game! :)

HK Day VII

last day.. macau back to hk. breakfast was at macdonald. apparently the shops at senado sq werent open yet.. so had to settle for mac.

views from the ferry terminal. like i said, it was really a miscalculation. we should have just flew back from macau, rather than having to take the ferry back to hk again.......

becuz the flight was in the evening while we were already back in hk in the afternn, i specially booked a room to place our barangs-barangs and at least a place to rest. the room is in mirador mansion and it cost only $29/night.

but it turned out much smaller than i had expected. i suspect, after knowing that we needed the room only to put our stuff, the person gave us a much smaller room. think this room is only for 1pax. imagaine the 4 of us with our barangs! the door can hardly close!!!

after leaving our barangs in the pea-big room, we went for lunch.

and hubb had his duck thigh again.....

it was drizzling the whole day... the folks went back to the room to rest... and me and hubb went to another cha-can-ting after deciding that the room can no way acoomodate the 4 of us.

and then.... it's time to leave ~

all in all, the trip did not turn out quite the way i had wanted it to be. and the folks did not enjoy as much as i had wanted them to be. in conclusion,

1) hk is not a place for elderly on a free & easy trip.

2) no more free & easy trip for my folks. they need E.A.S.Y T.R.A.N.S.P.O.R.T (probably except places where we can self-drive like aussie .. or where cabs are dirt cheap and we can always travel by cabs)

met up with jc mates last friday. had dinner at sun & moon @ wheelock.

my waygu beef sukiyaki.. mmm... i still prefer the beef sukiyaki at ichiban sushi. all time fav there!

this gathering was organised by bee. it's quite rare for her to be the one organising, so when i saw her sms, i already told hubb that there must be something that she wanna tell us.

and true enough... she's pregnant!! my first female friend to get married.. and now my first female friend to enter motherhood!!! gosh! tot we were just cheong-ing for our a-levels not that long ago??!

PuLaU Ubin DaY 2

day 2 at pulau ubin.

behind was where we had our breakfast

complimentary breakfast. each a set. with free flow drink ie coffee, tea or punch.

and we tried out snorkeling! me and hubb's first time. it's part of the package and foc. can choose to snorkel or do the fish spa. we chose the former since we already tried fish spa before.

pretty easy and can self-teach de. hahaaha.

i think it's my first time in water with a life-jacket. you really dont have to worry about drowning with a life-jac on. even if you dont move, you will still float. real shiok and easy and effortless.

but unfortunately, the water wasnt clear and the visibility in water was low. cant really see the fishes in there. so my 1st snorkeling experience wasnt that fantastic.

check out time was supposed to be at 12pm, but we dragged until 1pm then checked out. luckily no penalty. lol.

and then ferry back to sg.

and that wrapped up my pulau ubin trip. all in all not too bad lah. 2d1n, bask in the sun, cycle, swim, sweat, makan, rest. but really no shopping to do de. so if u are totally not the outdoor kind and is the 'sun-shunning' kind, then this place is not for you.

else, once in a while go, also not too bad de lahh.

PuLau Ubin Day 1

YAY! it's pulau ubin i went to last sunday and stayed for a night. it's been donkey years since i last visited (i cant even remb when!) i wouldnt have thought of visiting if not suggested by hubb's parents.

and so, we took a ferry from changi village.

the one-way ride cost $2.50/pax and takes abt 15mins. to my surprise, there were quite a number of visitors that day.

tada! reached!

we (meaning me, hubb, hubb's bro and his gf) rented bicycles right away. there are many bicycles rental shops there. long time since i rode on a bicycle as well. glad it's a skill that will always be possessed despite not constantly practicing :)

our destination is to the resort where we will stay for the night - celestial resort. while we took the bikes, the folks took the van ride which the locals call it the 'taxis'. basically u pay a small sum and these vans will take u to where u want to go on the island.

the check-in time was 2pm.. and strictly 2pm. we were there too early, so ended up waiting.....

dog munching on a dead fish from the sea. urgh! gross!

and, this is how the resorts look like. juz like chalets...

the rooms are quite spacious. fully air-conditioned with private bathrooms and water heaters.

after check-in and resting for awhile, we started biking to chek jawa. it's a protected nature reserve and closes at 6pm. so in order not to give it a miss, we gave our lunch a miss :(

and poor hubb was bitten by a 'dont-know-wad'. according to him that bug was a huge black bug which action was so fast that he cant even sight it clearly. it just came, stung him, and flew off. and the area started swelling.... and painful.. and itchy.. uh-oh.

and the very helpful security guard assisted with 1st-aid. lol.. like very serious like thaaat....

and the 'end-product'. keke. apparently, after so many days, that area is still swelling. he went consult doc when we returned on monday, but the doc only gave him cream and oral medication. no jab given. weird, cuz we all expected a jab to be given. but somehow, not so.

while we were at this bridge, it started raining.... lucky not too heavily and not for too long.

along the bike ride to where the jetty is, we came across this lake. remb that helpful india security guard above? he had off work then and while we were looking at this beautiful lake, he rode past and stopped to talk to us. he told us that at night, there will be 'other people' at this lake. eee.... eerie huh.

i had enjoyed the bike rides, except for having to go up slopes which is super draining. most of the times, i gave up and just push my bike along instead of riding it up-slope. coupled with a hungry stomach and the not soo good weather, i thought i was on some army training camp. ha. poor me.

and finally, to the place where we had our zhu2 chao4 dinner. about 3-4 stalls to choose from. other than that, there are only 2 small provision shops. that's abt all.

bikes were returned on that same evening as we do not fancy night cycling. took the van back to the resort. slept at 930 that night, cuz apparently, no other activities to do liao. and we had a long day out in the sun cycling.

super healthy lifestyle eh :)
